AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
SUPPLEMENTING SCHEDULE VIII OF SECTION 8.64.080
OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE BY PROHIBITING THE
OPERATION OF COMMERCIAL VEHICLES HAVING A
LICENSED GROSS WEIGHT IN EXCESS OF 10,000 POUNDS
UPON SR 524 FROM THE EAST CITY LIMITS TO DAYTON
STREET WITHIN SAID CITY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds, Washington,
has determined that it is in the best interests of the public
health, safety and welfare to regulate the use of SR 524 from
the east city limits to Dayton Street within said city (196th
Street S.W. to Puget Drive to 9th Avenue North to Casper to
3rd Avenue) by prohibiting commercial vehicle traffic when such
vehicles have a licensed gross weight in excess of 10,000
pounds for reasons, including but not limited to, the safety
of pedestrians and other motorists upon said roadway together
with the resultant lessening of wear and tear, maintenance and
deterioration of said roadway, now, therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 8.64.080. Schedule VIII--Commercial
vehicles prohibited from using certain streets is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"8.64.080. Schedule VIII--Commercial vehicles prohibited
from using certain streets. When signs are erected giving
notice thereof, no person shall operate a commercial vehicle
except as provided under Section 8.56.020, upon any of the
following streets or parts of streets:

Section 2. The City Engineer is hereby authorized to
transmit a certified copy of this Ordinance to the State of
Washington Highway Department to obtain their concurrence
in the establishment of the licensed gross weight limit if
necessary and the City Engineer is hereby directed to remove,
replace, modify or install such signs as are necessary to carry
out the purposes of this Ordinance.
