AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON
AMENDING SECTION 12.14.020 (H)(2) OF THE EDMONDS
CITY CODE TO ALLOW COMPACT CAR PARKING STALLS
DIMENSIONS ON CERTAIN MULTI -FAMILY DWELLING
SITES; ESTABLISHING MINIMUM COMPACT CAR -PARKING
SPACE DIMENSIONS; AND OVERRULING PLANNING COMMIS-
SION RESOLUTION NO. 569.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Planning Commission Resolution
No. 569, the City Council of the City of Edmonds, Washington
called a public hearing and during said hearing having deter-
mined it to be in the best interest of the public health,
safety and general welfare to amend the Edmonds Zoning Or-
dinance as set forth below and having determined that there
will be no significant adverse environmental impacts and
finding that the Planning Commission recommendation con-
tained in Planning Commission Resolution No. 569 should be
overruled, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 12.14.020 (H)(2) of the Edmonds City
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
12.14.020 (H) (2) .
Dimensions.
a. Standard Dimensions. Minimum standards for off
street parking area dimensions shall be not less
than as shown on Figure 1, MINIMUM PARKING LOT
REQUIREMENTS.
b. Compact Car Dimensions. Minimum standards for off
street parking area lot dimensions where compact
car spaces are permitted shall be not less than
as shown on Figure 2, MINIMUM PARKING REQUIREMENTS
FOR COMPACT CARS. The minimum compact car dimen-
sions, as set forth on Figure 2, may be utilized
only on multi -family dwelling sites required by
the terms of this zoning code to have thirteen (13)
or more parking spaces. Provided, however, that
no more than twenty-five (25) percent of the spaces
may be of compact car size. The area not used for
parking spaces as a result of utilizing the minimum
compact car dimension shall be used only for land-
scaping or additional parking spaces. The min-
imum compact car dimensions may not be utilized by
retirement homes for the aged, housing projects
for the elderly, or other uses not subject to
the standard, multi -family parking space require-
ments set forth in section 12.13.130 (g) of the
Edmonds City Code."
Section 2. The minimum parking space requirements for
compact cars shall be as set forth on that certain exhibit
labeled "Figure 2" attached hereto and incorporated in
full by this reference. Figure 2 shall be placed in the
Edmonds City Code in section 12.14.020 (H) following Figure 1.
