ORDINANCE NO. 2203
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
AMENDMENT SECTION 10.40.020(A) OF THE EDMONDS
CITY CODE TO DEFINE THE POWERS AND DUTIES OF
THE ALTERNATE MEMBER OF THE PLANNING ADVISORY
BOARD.
WHEREAS, the Planning Advisory Board has recommended
to the City Council that certain changes be made in the powers
and duties of the alternate member, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that these
changes are in the best interests of the public and will
provide for a more efficient Planning Advisory Board, now,
therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 10.40.020(A) of the Edmonds City
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"A. Appointment. There is created the Planning Advisory
Board, consisting of seven members. An alternate
member shall be appointed to serve in the event any
regular member is absent or disqualified for any
reason. In the event a regular member is absent or
disqualified for any reason, the alternate shall have
all the powers of a regular member, including the
right to vote. The alternate shall be subject to
the same attendance requirements as regular Board
members. Should a regular member's position become
vacant for any reason, the alternate shall be deemed
to fill such vacancy for the remainder of the unexpired
term.
Members shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to
confirmation by the City Council. Although the City
of Edmonds is not divided into political or
geographical wards, it is the intent, but not the
necessity, of this section to maintain a reasonable
balance of geographical distribution throughout the
City of Edmonds on said Board. "
Section 2. The term of the first alternate member of
the Planning Advisory Board, appointed by the Mayor and
confirmed by the Council, shall expire on December 31, 1985.
Thereafter, alternate members of the Board shall serve for
terms of four years and until their successors are appointed,
confirmed and assume office.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect five days after passage and publication by posting as
provided by law.
