ORDINANCE NO. 2204
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASH-
INGTON, AMENDING SECTION 2.35.040 OF THE
EDMONDS CITY CODE TO ALLOW ALL CITY
EMPLOYEES, INCLUDING DEPARTMENT HEADS AND
ASSISTANT DEPARTMENT HEADS, COMPENSATING
TIME.
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that
department heads and assistant department heads frequently
must work in excess of regular hours in order to properly
perform their duties and to carry out the responsibilities
delegated to them, and
WHEREAS, while other City employees have been
allowed compensating time, department heads and assistant
department heads were not, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that
sound personnel management requires that department heads
and assistant department heads be treated on the same basis
as other City employees, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 2.35.040 of the Edmonds City
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"2.35.040 COMPENSATING TIME
When work beyond regular hours for any employee, including
department heads and assistant department heads, is required
of an employee by the City, an equal amount of compensating
time may be allowed as City requirements will permit. The
compensating time off from service shall be taken at the
convenience of the City, and within the twelve-month period
following the date of the service performed beyond the
employee's regular hours. Compensating time must be approved
by the employee's supervisor."
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect five (5) days after passage and publication by
posting as provided by law.
