Ordinance 2255WDT/lac 12/22/81 ORDINANCE NO. 2255 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASH- INGTON, AMENDING SECTION 7.30.030 (A) AND (B) OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE TO ESTABLISH NEW RATES FOR WATER CONSUMPTION; AMENDING SECTION 7.30.040 (A) AND (B) OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE TO ESTABLISH UTILITY CHARGES; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council has conducted hearings on the City water and utility rates and has received information from the City staff as well as members of the public concern- ing the charges necessary to insure the ongoing financial integrity of the City's utility system, and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the following rates for water and utility service in the City of Edmonds are sufficient to generate sufficient revenues to assure continued operation of the City's utility system and that the rates are fair and equitable among the different classes of users in the City, now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 7.30.030(A) and (B) of the Edmonds City Code are each hereby amended to read as follows: "7.30.030 WATER RATES - METER INSTALLATION CHARGES The monthly rates for water supplied through meters are fixed as follows: A. Base rate. A base rate to be paid by customers for water supplied through meters is hereby fixed on a bimonthly basis as follows: Water Meter Size Base Rate (Bimonthly) 1. 3/4" $ 10.13 2. 1" 20.63 3. 1-1/2" 38.16 4. 2" 58.17 5. 3" 125.49 6. 4" 177.76 7. 6" 352.30 Fire Lines 8. 4" $ 12.34 9. 6" 21.59 10. 8" 30.81 B. Variable Rate. In addition to the base rate, set forth above, there shall be an additional charge to the cus- tomer at the rate of $.86 per 100 cubic feet of water consumed. Section 2. Section 7.30.040(A) and (B) of the Edmonds City Code are each hereby amended to read as follows: "7.30.040 UTILITY CHARGES The utility charges set forth in this section shall be added to and made a part of the bimonthly rates for water supplied through the meters as set forth in Section 7.30.030: A. For customers who are served by City waterlines, the following charges are imposed: CONNECTED TO SEWERS UNCONNECTED TO SEWERS 1. Single-family $14.91(bimonthly) $5.96(bimonthly) residence 2. All other $.82 per 100 $5.96(bimonthly) cubic feet of metered water consumption B. For customers who are not served by City waterlines but who are connected to City sewers, the following charges are imposed: 1. Single-family residence $14.91(bimonthly) 2. Duplex, apartment houses and othermulti-unit residences 3. Hotels, motels, trailer parks, and trailer courts 4. Schools 5. Office buildings 6. Business, commercial 7. Manufacturing and industrial 8. Taverns, service stations 9. Laundries, laundromats, car washes, supermarkets, restaurant 10. Hospitals, nursing homes 11. Churches, fraternal and service organizations with 3/4" meter 12. Churches, fraternal and service organizations with 1" meter" $8.85(bimonthly)/unit $7.93(bimonthly)/room or unit $.56(bimonthly)/student, based on architect's rated capacity $10.62(bimonthly) office in same building $20.83(bimonthly)/each business even though in same building $18.32(bimonthly) $85.94(bimonthly) $12.45(bimonthly)bed $33.68(bimonthly) $75.10(bimonthly) Section 3. The water and utility charges imposed by this ordinance shall be effective on and after January 1, 1982. Section 4.
