ORDINANCE NO. 2300
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASH-
INGTON, AMENDING SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE
NO. 2150 PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON
JUNE 16, 1980, TO AUTHORIZE FUNDS GENERATED
FROM THE SALE OF NEGOTIABLE LIMITED TAX
GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS FOR ANY MUNICIPAL
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Edmonds,
Washington, enacted Ordinance No. 2150 on June 16, 1980,
which, among other things, authorized issuance of $3,400,000
in negotiable limited tax general obligation bonds for the
purpose of providing funds to pay the costs of renovating the
Anderson Cultural and Leisure Center and construction of the
City Library, and
WHEREAS, the City Finance Director advises that
there will be surplus funds left over after completion of the
above projects, and
WHEREAS, the City currently has a number of capital
improvement projects including renovation and consolidation
of city office space and the construction of the North
Meadowdale sanitary sewer and storm drainage project, and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the
best interests of the City to have the surplus funds avail-
able for these and other capital improvement projects, now,
therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 2 of Ordinance No. 2150, passed
by the City Council on June 16, 1980 be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 2. The City shall borrow money on the
credit of the City and issue negotiable limited
tax general obligation bonds evidencing such
indebtedness in the amount of $3,400,000 for
general city purposes to provide the funds to pay
the costs of renovation of the Anderson Cultural
and Leisure Center on Main Street in the City,
construction of the City Library on Main Street,
including providing funds for the redemption of
interest bearing warrants issued to acquire the
elementary school site on which such center and
library are located as above described, and for
any other municipal capital project, and to pay
the cost of the issuance of the bonds. Such
general indebtedness to be incurred shall be
within the limit of up to 3/4 of one percent of
the value of the taxable property within the City
permitted for general municipal purposes without a
vote of the qualified voters therein.
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect five (5) days after passage and publication as
provided by law.
