ORDINANCE NO. 2301
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASH-
INGTON, AMENDING SECTIONS 8.48.160 AND
8.64.060 OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE CHANGING
THE HOURS OF PARKING IN THE DOWNTOWN BUSI-
NESS AREA FROM TWO TO THREE HOURS; PROVID-
ING FOR DIAGONAL PARKING UPON A PORTION OF
THE NORTH SIDE OF BELL STREET BETWEEN FIFTH
AND SIXTH AVENUES NORTH; AMENDING SECTION
8.64.065 TO PROVIDE FOR TWO FIVE MINUTE
PARKING SPACES ON THE NORTH SIDE OF BELL
STREET BETWEEN FIFTH AND SIXTH AVENUES
NORTH; AMENDING SECTION 8.64.010 MAKING
CERTAIN SECTIONS OF BELL STREET BETWEEN
FIFTH AND SIXTH AVENUES NORTH ONE WAY
STREETS AND TO SPECIFY THE EFFECTIVE DATE
OF THIS ORDINANCE.
WHEREAS, after extensive study, public input and
Council consideration the City Council finds that it is in
the best interests of the City that the parking schedule for
the downtown business area be revised to encourage a more
efficient use of the Edmonds downtown business area by busi-
ness patrons, downtown residents and those who work in such
area, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 8.48.160 of the Edmonds City
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
8.48.160 PARKING TIME LIMITED ON CERTAIN STREETS
When signs are erected in each block giving notice
thereof, no person shall park a vehicle for longer
than three hours at any time between the hours of
eight a.m. and six p.m. of any day except Sundays
and public holidays specified in Section 8.48.140,
within the district or upon any of the streets
described in Section 8.64.060.
Section 2. Section 8.64.060 of the Edmonds City
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
8.64.060 SCHEDULE VI - PARKING LIMITED ON CERTAIN
STREETS
In accordance with Section 8.48.160, and when signs
are erected giving notice thereof, no person shall
park a vehicle for a period of time longer than
three hours between the hours of eight a.m. and six
p.m. of any day except Sundays and public holidays
within the district or upon any of the streets as
follows:
1. Both sides of Bell Street from Third Avenue
North to Fourth Avenue North.
2. South side of Bell Street from Second Avenue
North to Third Avenue North.
3. Both sides of Main Street from Sunset Avenue to
130 feet East of Sixth Avenue.
4. Both sides of James Street from Sunset Avenue to
Third Avenue.
5. South side of Dayton from Third to 250 feet east
of Fifth Avenue South.
6. North side of Dayton from Railroad Avenue to 130
feet East of Sixth Avenue South.
7. Both sides of Second Avenue from Dayton to 180
feet north of Main.
8. East side of Second Avenue North from 180 feet
north of Main Street to Bell Street.

of Third from 120 feet south of
Dayton
to Dayton.

16. Both sides of Maple Street from Fifth Avenue
South to 180 feet east of Fifth Avenue South.
17. Both sides of Alder Street from Fifth Avenue
South to 180 feet east of Fifth Avenue South.
18. Both sides of Walnut Street from 122 feet west
of Fifth Avenue South to 180 feet west of Fifth
Avenue South.
19. Both sides of Holly Drive from Fifth Avenue
South to 180 feet east of Fifth Avenue South.
20. Both sides of Howell Way from Fifth Avenue South
to 122 feet west of Fifth Avenue South.
21. Both sides of Edmonds Street from Third Avenue
North to 120 feet east of Third Avenue North.
22. South side of Edmonds Street from 120 feet east
of Third Avenue North to Fifth Avenue North.
23. South side of Daley Street from Third Avenue
North to 130 feet east of Third Avenue North.
24. RESERVED
25. Both sides of Sunset Avenue from Main Street to
120 feet north of Main Street.
Section 3. The City Traffic Engineer is hereby
directed to restripe the parking spaces on the westernmost
portion of Bell Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues pro-
viding for diagonal parking on the north side and parallel
parking on the south side as more particularly set forth in
Exhibit A, incorporated herein by this reference as if set
forth in full.

Section 4. Section 8.64.065 of the Edmonds City
Code is hereby amended to add a new Subsection 8 to read as
follows :

Section 5. Section 8.64.010 is hereby amended to
add two new Subsections 4 and 5 to read as follows:

of the traffic island.
5. Bell Street from Fifth Easterly
Avenue North easterly 150
feet on the south side
of the traffic island.
Section 6. The Traffic Engineer is further directed
to erect or remove signs consistent with this ordinance and
specifically to change the signs in the downtown business
area now indicating two hour parking to designate three hour
parking by means of weatherproof decals.

Section 7. This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect five (5) days after passage and publication by
posting as provided by law.
