ORDINANCE NO. 2314
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASH-
INGTON, AMENDING SECTION 4.08.100A REGARD-
ING STANDARDS FOR AMBULANCE EQUIPMENT;
AMENDING SECTION 4.08.105 RELATING TO AMBU-
LANCE AID CALLS AND AMENDING SECTION
4.08.121 OF THE EDMONDS CITY CODE.
WHEREAS, the need for ambulance services at accident
scenes in the City of Edmonds is currently met by a municipal
aid car and the services of Medic 7, together with the backup
services of private, licensed ambulance operators, the City
Council finds that licensed ambulance operators should
respond to accident scenes or other emergencies only when
requested, and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that a portable
resuscitator is no longer a necessary piece of ambulance
equipment and should be deleted from the list of required
equipment found in ECC 4.08.100A, and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that ECC 4.08.121C
relating to transportation of victims whose condition is not
a matter of life and death is no longer necessary with the
availability of the current services of the municipal aid car
and Medic 7, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Section 4.08.100A(1) of the Edmonds City
Code is hereby repealed and the succeeding numbered subsec-
tions shall not be affected but shall be renumbered
accordingly.
Section 2. Section 4.08.105 of the Edmonds City
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
4.08.105 LICENSEES TO RESPOND TO AID CALLS ON
NONCODE BASIS
Licensed private amublance operators shall be
permitted to monitor shortwave radio, fire and
police calls for the purpose of being apprised
of the scene of an accident or other emergency.
The licensees shall not respond to any aid car
call unless their response is specifically re-
quested by the city dispatcher, the municipal
aid car commander or the fire chief or desig-
nee. Such responses shall be on a noncode
basis without the use of emergency lights
and/or sirens unless otherwise specifically
directed by the city dispatcher, the municipal
aid car commander or the fire chief or
designee.
Section 3. Section 4.08.121C of the Edmonds City
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
C. In the event the condition of the victim is
not such that the immediate delivery of the
victim by the aid car to a hospital or other
medical establishment is a matter of life or
death, then the victim may be transported by
the aid car or by a private ambulance or by
privately furnished transportation at the
sole discretion of the aid car commander
after considering the availability of an aid
car for any subsequent emergencies.

Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect five (5) days after passage and publication by
posting as provided by law.
