ORDINANCE NO. 2380
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ADJUST
SALARY LEVELS FOR EXEMPT PERSONNEL AND
NONREPRESENTED, NONEXEMPT PERSONNEL UPON
RECLASSIFICATION.
WHEREAS, after review and discussion the City Council
has determined, upon recommendation of the Mayor and staff to
reclassify certain positions in City employment, and
WHEREAS, the Edmonds salary ordinance should be
amended to authorize the Mayor to make salary adjustments
upon reclassification, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. On and after January 1, 1983, the Mayor's
salary shall be $1,523.00 per month. On and after January 1,
1984, the Mayor's salary shall be $3,250.00 per month.
Section 2. The following department heads, depart-
mental assistants and other exempt classification positions
as defined and designated in the City of Edmonds Salary
Administration Manual shall receive salaries within the
ranges as set forth on Exhibit A, attached hereto and incor-
porated herein by this reference as if set forth in full.
Section 3. The salary range for nonexempt, non -
represented personnel shall be as set forth on Exhibit B,
attached hereto and incorporated by this reference as if set
forth in full.
Section 4. The salary for exempt personnel and
nonrepresented, nonexempt personnel may be adjusted by the
Mayor up to the full performance level for the employee's
grade as set forth on Exhibits A and B of this ordinance.
The first adjustment may be made six months after date of
employment and thereafter annually from the date of the last
adjustment.
After an exempt employee has reached the full
performance level of his or her salary range for the parti-
cular grade, annual adjustments may be made by the Mayor, not
to exceed 4 percent in any one year, up to the maximum salary
specified for that grade. Merit adjustments of department
heads shall be approved by the Council.
Provided, however, upon reclassification, the Mayor
may make salary adjustments within the range established for
that grade.
Section 5. Effective April 1, 1983, all exempt
personnel and all nonrepresented, nonexempt personnel shall
receive a salary increase of 4.85 percent which shall not be
considered in computing the maximum percentage limits set
forth herein.
Section 6. The Mayor or designee is authorized to
adopt administrative rules to effectuate adjustments to full
performance level.

Section 7. The City shall pay 80 percent of the
premiums due on and after April 1, 1982, for medical, dental
and vision insurance covering a department head, other exempt
employee, or a nonexempt employee who is unrepresented. Such
employee shall be responsible for the remaining 20 percent of
such premium.
Section 8. Ordinance No. 2358, passed by the City
Council on March 29, 1983, and all other inconsistent
ordinances are hereby repealed.
Section 9. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect five (5) days after passage and publication by posting
as provided by law. Any salary adjustments made pursuant
hereto shall be effective as of July 1, 1983.
