ORDINANCE NO. 2430
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHING -
TON, REPEALING AND REENACTING SECTION
1.04.010 AND SECTION 2.05.020 AS THOSE
PROVISIONS RELATE TO THE CONDUCT OF CITY
COUNCIL MEETINGS TO PROVIDE FOR NEW MEETING,
ADJOURNMENT AND COMMITTEE MEETING TIMES,
ATTENDANCE OF THE CITY ATTORNEY AND PROVIDING
A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BE EFFECTIVE.
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to better provide
for the orderly conduct of its business by the amendment of
those ordinances governing its meetings and those of its
committees, now, therefore,
FOLLOWS:
THE CITY COUNCIL OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS
Section 1. Section 1.04.010 of the Edmonds City Code
is hereby amended to read as follows:
1.04'.010
Regular meetings of the City Council shall be held
on each Tuesday of every month throughout the year
in the Plaza Meeting Room - Library Building at
7:00 P.M.; provided, however, on the second and
fourth Tuesdays of every month, such meetings shall
be designated as work meetings, and the City
Council shall not hold any public hearings for
which notice required to be given by state law or
ordinance of the City. Council meetings shall
adjourn at 10:00 P.M. on the day initiated unless
such adjournment is extended by an affirmative vote
of a majority of the Council as a whole plus one.
In the event state law requires an adoption of an
ordinance or other action on other than a Tuesday,
such as budget hearings, said dates are hereby
declared to be additional regular meeting dates
upon which date the action, ordinance, resolution
or hearing may be taken and/or adopted. Committee
meetings of the Council shall be held in
conjunction with meetings of the Council at such
time and on such occasion as the committee shall
determine necessary. The period from 8:30 P.M. to
10:00 P.M. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each
month shall be set aside for the Committee meetings
of the Council as a whole. The 10:00 P.M. adjourn-
ment deadline set by this ordinance shall apply
only to meetings of the Council as a Whole and
shall not affect the ability of any Council subcom-
mittee to meet after such time when so scheduled by
the chair or by the subcommittee.
Section 2. Section 2,05.020, Paragraph B.1. of the
Edmonds City Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
2:05.020(B)
1. Attend all regular and special Council meet-
ings, provided, however, that the City
Attorney shall be required to attend work
meetings of the Council only at the request
and direction of the Council.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be in full force an
effect five (5) days after passage and publication by posting
as provided by law.
