ROOF PLAN NOTES
• SEE DESIGN LOADS AND/OR STRUCTURAL NOTES FOR
GROUND AND ROOF SNOW LOADS.
• FOR MANUFACTUREDED TRUSS ROOFS: ROOF PLAN IS FOR
SCHEMATIC PURPOSES ONLY. ACTUAL ROOF PLAN TO BE
DESIGNED AND ENGINEERED BY A LICENSED TRUSS
ENGINEER. RAFTER FRAMING PER PLAN.
• TRUSS LAYOUT TO BE REVIEWED AND APPROVED BY THE
TRUSS MANUFACTURER PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
• SHADED AREAS INDICATE OVER -FRAMING.
• LOCATE DOWNSPOUTS PER SITE CONDITIONS AND PER
GENERAL CONTRACTOR.
• INSTALLATION OF ALL ROOFING AND WALL FLASHING
SHALL BE TO INDUSTRY STANDARDS AND IN COMPLIANCE
WITH CURRENT CODES.
• PROVIDE CONTINUOUS ALUMINUM GUTTERS ON FASCIA AS
SPECIFIED IN DETAILS.
• SKYLIGHT SIZES, IF ANY, ARE APPROXIMATE. CONTRACTOR
TO VERIFY ACTUAL ROUGH OPENING SIZE PER
MANUFACTURER SPECIFICATIONS.
• PROVIDE SOLID BLOCKING OVER ALL SUPPORTS.
• PROVIDE MIN. 22"x30" ATTIC ACCESS WITH APPROVED
WEATHERSTRIPPING. IF ACCESS IS IN A GARAGE, A SELF
CLOSING MECHANISM MUST BE INCORPORATED.
• 16d @ 8"o.c. END TRUSS TO TOP PLATES. (TYPICAL AT ALL
GABLE ENDS)
• ATTICS WHERE THE MAX. CLEAR HEIGHT BETWEEN JOIST
AND RAFTERS IS MORE THAN 42", OR WHERE THERE ARE
TWO OR MORE ADJACENT TRUSSES WITH THE SAME WEB
CONFIGURATION CAPABLE OF CONTAINING A RECTANGLE
42" HIGH BY 24" WIDE OR GREATER, MUST BE CONSIDERED
ATTIC WITH LIMITED STORAGE.
• ATTIC SPACE SERVED BY A FIXED STAIR SHALL BE
DESIGNED TO SUPPORT THE MIN. LIVE LOAD FOR SLEEPING
ROOMS.
ATTIC VENTILATION CALCULATIONS
ATTIC VENTILATION (R806.1 & 806.2)
PROVIDE 1 SQ. FT. OF ATTIC VENTILATION FOR EACH 150 SQ. FT. OF ATTIC AREA.
EXCEPTION:
PROVIDE 1 SQ. FT. OF ATTIC VENTILATION FOR EACH 300 SQ. FT. OF ATTIC SPACE WHEN 50% (BUT
NOT MORE THAN 80%) OF VENTILATION IS IN THE UPPER Y3 OF ATTIC.
PROVIDE A COMBINATION OF ROOF JACKS OR CONTINUOUS RIDGE VENTING ALONG WITH EAVE
VENTS.
AF50 JACK VENTS =. 333 SQ. FT. NET FREE AREA.
EAVE BIRD BLOCKS = .074 SQ. FT. NET FREE AREA.
CORAVENT V300 = .094 SQ. FT. NET FREE AREA PER L.F.
NEW ROOF AREA
ROOF AREA = 374 SQ. FT. / 300 = 1.25 SQ. FT. / 2 = .62 SQ. FT.
OF REQUIRED VENTING IN BOTH
UPPER 50% OF ROOF AND IN LOWER 50% OF ROOF.
IN UPPER 50% OF ROOF TOTAL SQ. FT. REQUIRED / .333
= 2 AF50 JACK VENTS.
IN LOWER 50% OF ROOF TOTAL SQ. FT. REQUIRED / .074
= 9 EAVE BIRD BLOCKS
