Thank you for the careful review of the previous permit drawing submittal.

The scope of work at the Crawford residence includes replacement of sheathing and siding
materials, addressing the waterproofness of the structure, and some minor structural repairs to
the deck leading to the north side entry.
I have addressed your review comments below. Please feel free to call me directly at 206-779-
6856 to avoid further corrections that can be addressed in that manner.
Responses are italicized.•
1. Please clarify as to what extent Burt Engineering will be involved for your project. As
the engineer of record for the project, I will provide the plans and details for the
sheathing and repairs for the deckframing.
2. Indicate on the plans the Shearibraced wall panels. Provide a detail as to how the braced
wall panels are to be constructed. The braced panels are replacing the capacity of the
existing TI -11 materials. The sheathing is provided by adding 15132 OSB sheathing. We
have provided installation details for the assembly keyed to locations on the floor plans.
3. Please clarify on the plans how the supports are to be fastened, for the walkway and deck
repair. To include type, size, location, and material of fasteners for your project. We have
provided appropriate details for the repairs.
4. It appears that the rotted framing deck wall(s) are to remain as open framing, as
demonstrated on the plans or provide a detail as to the sheathing and cladding being used
for the deck framing repair. The details provided clarify the sheathed bracing condition.
5. The cross sections show a North and South repair for your deck framing. Please clarify
on the plans the North and South areas of this repair. Details are keyed to the plans
showing their respective locations.

6. Please also include calculations/details as to the construction of deck framing rot repair.
Please provide any bracing requirements details, that will be needed for this repair. The
calculations and details are provided, refer to attached documents.
7. Sheet A-2. Please clarify on the plans the bolting at 2 x 12 member. It appears that this
may be a through bolt. The PT 2x12 connection is clarified in the details.
8. It appears that there has been details provided for the rot repair for the North and South
deck framing repairs only. Please provide/clarify details on the plans, for the support
repairs. There are repairs to both the lateral braces, and to the west end of the deck
structure. Refer to plans for locations.
