Reference: 1. Preliminary Geotechnical Report, Meadowdale Road Residential, prepared by
Ages Engineering, LLC, dated March 20, 2019.
Dear Mr. Buehler,
As requested, we are providing additional information for the subject site located at
16216 N. Meadowdale Road in Edmonds, Washington. The location of the site is shown on the
Site Vicinity Map provided in Figure 1.
We understand a new driveway with segmental block walls was constructed along the
north side of the existing residence. Due to the site being located in an ECA zone, the driveway
and walls should have been included in the plans for the recent retaining wall construction located
along the east side of the existing residence on the site. Regardless, we visited the site to examine
the new driveway and retaining walls to verify they were constructed in accordance with the City
of Edmonds Municipal Code and Ages Engineering recommendations.
DISCUSSION AND IiECOMMENDA'1'IONS
We visited the site on January 21, 2021 to view the existing site conditions. At the time
of our site visit, the new driveway and segmental block walls were finished. The new driveway
enters and exits from North Meadowdale Beach Road, creating a half circle driveway. The
driveway is covered with crushed rock compacted into place. We observed segmental blocks
walls had been constructed around the south side of the driveway, between the existing residence
and the new driveway. The new wails face the new driveway and have a maximum total height
of 2.0 feet (3 blocks). The wall blocks were also used to create a short staircase from the new
driveway to the existing residence. We examined the area around and under the new
development area and found the soils to consist of native sands and gravels with very little thin
fills in places. All areas were firm and non -yielding and suitable for the new wall and driveway

construction. Based on our evaluation, the new walls and driveway were constructed in
accordance with the City of Edmonds Municipal Code and Ages Engineering recommendations.
