Subject: Shear Wall Structural Observation
Site Name: Bolin Residence
Address: 7330 172nd Street S.W. Edmonds

Sidesway Engineering has completed our structural observation of the shear wall construction at the
aforementioned residence as part of shear wall upgrades required in the Sidesway calculation package
dated 11/07/18. The southeast wall was noted as a "SWY which required 8d nails at 3" OC at the panel
edges and double 2x or flat 2x4 blocking at adjoining panel edges. The anchor bolt and holdowns were
previously observed by our firm on May 8th (observation letter dated May 13th)
We performed visual observation of the shear wall nailing and nominal size of framing members at
adjoining panel edges in accordance with Section 1705.5 of the 2015 International Building Code. All
nailing and framing appeared to conform with the structural permit documents.
Our observation was performed on May 16th subject to the standard of care applicable to professional
services and doesn't warrant or guarantee that all conditions were discovered. Please call if you have any
