You would want to speak with our Planning Dept to "confirm". It looks like they included information
below in this email string but if you are not sure, I would suggest calling in to speak with them. I have

How does one "confirm" this? You have my address, it's new construction from Select Homes, and we
were not told of anything "critical" in our area.

From what I've read, since the Gazebo is under 200 sgft a permit is not required?

Hello and Happy Wednesday. I've updated the plan with a better drawing. I can not determine under
what option I should submit this permit on the MyBuildingPermit.com website. I've called and left a
voice mail but have not heard back from anyone yet. Can you please let me know so I can get this
process started?
Thank you,
Raine Lightner

Hi Raine,
The Planning Department would require a permit, see their notes below:
The gazebo is considered a structure, as defined in ECDC 21.90.150 and therefore must meet
setbacks. The side setback for the RS-8 zone is 7.5'. Since the structure is less than 600 square
feet, it qualifies for the reduced rear setback of 5' (ECDC 16.20.050.C).
Per ECDC 16.20.040.C: The patio can extend into the side setback (7.5') and regular non-
reduced rear setback (15') no more than 1/3 or 4', whichever is less; provided that it is no
more than 30 inches above ground level at any point.
The Engineering Department would be reviewing this permit as well, and would look at total
impervious surfaces created and replaced, and that any runoff would not negatively impact
neighboring properties.
Thanks,
Natalie

Hello Natalie, Thanks for the assistance here!
This was our initial sketch.. rotated so West is on top.
Would love to know how much of a setback from the fence is required for the patio, and how far
away we can have the Gazebo placed. The fire ring is not happening, so that is all concrete in the
shaded area.

Hi Raine,
Can you please provide a sketch of what you are proposing for the patio? You can mark up on image
below (this is the as built from the construction of the house). Please show the approximate
location on the plan, how far from the property lines the patio will be, and the patio dimensions.
Thanks!

Our backyard is 3000 sgft and we're looking to put a patio of around 1,000 sgft. Does the 200 sgft
apply to patios or just to structures?
Thanks,

Hello,
A permit is not required for an accessory structure less than 200sf, provided it is not in a Critical

confirm with our Panning Dept.
The same restrictions are for a patio.
I have attached our Exempt from permit Handout.

Hi there, we live at 21310 82nd PI W 98026 and are looking to put a 12'x16' gazebo in our
backyard.

Will this require a permit?
Also if we wanted to pour a cement patio in our backyard, what type of permit is required?
Thanks!
