Carrier's 50YQ heat pump can do it all with a remarkable efficiency that saves energy costs across the board. Built in the Carrier tradition of air conditioning excellence, the 50YQIQ0 Series provides a total package for your comfort needs during all seasons. The 50YQ heat pump is available in 5 sizes, from 24,000 to 48,500 Btuh cooling and from 23,600 to 52,500 Btuh heating. So you can choose the size that's just right for your res den tial/manufactured home or com- mercial building, and enjoy the benefits of comfort plus economy for many years to come. The heat pump achieves its extra- ordinary efficiency because it collects and moves heat from one place to another rather than producing it directly. On the cooling cycle, the unit pumps heat and humidity from inside your home to the outdoors, where they are dispersed. On the reverse cycle, the heat pump recovers heat from outdoors and pumps it inside to warm the indoor air. Even in the coldest weather (there's re- coverable heat in air at temperatures down to absolute zero [-460 F]), the heat pump can collect and concen- trate heat from the outdoor air to keep your home or office cozy. This principle of operation means that the heat pump saves energy whenever you use it. The 50YQ100 has cooling SEER's of 8.5 and higher, and C.O.P.'s for -heating of 2.8, which means that at 47 F the heat pump produces almost 3 times as much energy as it consumes. Depending on the temperature, your Carrier heat pump will be approximately 2 to 3 times more efficient than electric resistance heat. So consider the 50YQ100 single - package heat pump when selecting an air conditioning system for your home or business — it's the ideal unit for a variety of applications. VL Installation without complication The 50YQ100 arrives on the site ready to go. Completely wired, piped and charged at the factory, it installs quickly and easily. Connect electrical power and ductwork - that's all there is to it. An excellent unit for buildings that require crawl space ductwork installation; the 50YQI00 fits right in. it's also ideal for conditioning manu- factured homes, providing ali-season living comfort wherever you are. An operating sensation Time 50YQ100 performs with quiet, dependable efficiency and is certified for residences and commercial build- ings. The key to its operating effective- ness is the fine collection of matched heat pump components — computer designed, quality selected and tested to assure years of reliable operation. s Rugged hermetic compressor — Sealed against air, dirt, and moisture at the factory to assure long life. Internal safeguards protect the motor from costly damage. Crankcase heat- ers prevent refrigerant dilution, pro- mote proper lubrication, even after extended periods of shutdown. Backed by Carrier's 5-year warranty.* e large capacity coils -- With increased coil face area for greater air contact and optimum heat transfer. During warm weather the large 3-row indoor coil cools the air and lowers humidity effectively. The 2-row out- door coil rejects heat to the atmos- phere. Coils reverse roles during cool weather operation. Five-year war- ranty on the outdoor coil.* * Nlultispeed indoor fan — Set the fan for most efficient airflow; fan moves large quantities of air slowly, quietly. Resiliently mounted to mini- mize vibration. Easily removable for servicing. o Quiet outdoor fan — Sweeps air and sound up and away. Vertical dis- charge minimizes noise and protects shrubbery. s AccuRaterT" metering device — Carrier's patented, dual -piston. Accu- Rater device automatically meters the rate of refrigerant flow to meet a wide range of outdoor temperature conditions. Provides precise control' of refrigerant flow for maximum system efficiency. Eliminates reed for check valves and the double flow control devices required on many competitive heat pumps.
