We visited the site today on behalf of the owner, Chris Foster, to observe the installation of a helical piles at the
deck addition project located at the above address. Upon arrival we met with the pile driving contractor to discuss
the day's plans.
Helical pile installation was started along the northern side of the house. The piles consisted of a 2+7/8-inch steel
shaft with a single 10" helix, as specified in the plans. The anchor was driven with a truck mounted drive head. We
observed the termination pressures with depth and embedment as they were driven. Each helical pile was driven
to a minimum gauge pressure of approximately 900 psi, which corresponded to a torque of approximately 2,250
ft-lbs.
Approximate embedment was as follows, measured below the base of the existing foundation:

In our opinion, the helical piles completed today were installed correctly and according to project plans, and
should support planned loads. We will continue to monitor the foundation repairs in the future when pin pile
installation continues, and can return to the site upon request to continue observations and provide additional
consultation.

We visited the site today on behalf of the owners, Chris Foster, to observe the installation and testing of piles at
the deck addition project located at the above address. Upon arrival we met with the pile contractor to discuss
the day's plans.
We performed a compressional load test on helical pile HP8 in accordance with the project plans. Approximate
deflections and loads from testing are recorded in the table below. Plans indicated a 10kip design load from which
the test was based.

We then observed the installation of one of the planned helical piles as indicated on the attached site plan. The
pile consisted of 2+3/8-inch diameter steel shaft with an initial length of 7.0 feet and a single 10-inch helix, this
differs from the original plans which called for a 2+7/8-inch steel shaft. We understand after communications with
the contractor that the %-inch reduction in shaft diameter will not affect the ability of the pile to support the
planned loads. The pile was driven with a truck mounted drive head. We observed the termination pressure with
depth and embedment as it was driven. The helical pile was driven to a minimum gauge pressure of approximately
900 psi, which correlates to a torque of approximately 2,250 ft-lbs.
Approximate embedment was as follows, measured below the base of the existing foundation:
Pile # Embedment (ft)
HP9 6.6
Findings and conclusions are based on specific observations made while on site. In our opinion, the anchors tested
today were installed correctly and according to project plans and should support planned loads. We will continue
to monitor the foundation repairs in the future, when pin pile installation begins, and can return to the site upon
request to continue observations and provide additional consultation.
