A. GENERAL NOTES & CONDITIONS:
1. General:
a. Site Visit(s): This Field Report documents Ibrahim's and Max's site visit on 3-17-21, and
Max's site visits on 3-24-21 and 3-26-21 to review construction progress. The weather was
sunny on 3-17-21 and overcast on 3-24-21 and 3-26-21.
b. Follow -Up Communication: Follow-up conversations and emails between Marcus, Shane,
Tina, Max, Ibrahim, and myself may also be included in this field report for the purpose of
documentation.
c. RFIs and ASIs: Refer to RFI and ASI responses for additional direction regarding specific
items.
d. Note: Direction provided in this Field Report with associated costs must be approved by the
Construction Manager prior to execution.
2. Construction Status: On 3-17-21 the initial SGD mock-up was reviewed by AG and required
revisions. On 3-24-21, the SGD mock-up was reviewed and approved by AG. On 3-26-21, the
membrane mock-up was reviewed and approved by AG. Deck fascia and soffit installations
were ongoing by RCI during all three site visits. Refer to Photos 1- 4.
B. DISCUSSIONS:
1. Initial SGD Mock -Up (3-17-21): On 3-17-21, Ibrahim and Max were onsite to review the sliding
glass door sill pan, FF-1, and integral L-metal flashing installations, as part of the required SGD
mock-up. On 3-17-21, Ibrahim returned to site in the afternoon to review the installation of the
SGD, which required modifications. Observations and direction provided are noted below:
a. SGD Sill Pan Installation: On 3-17-21, Max and Ibrahim documented the pre -coated SGD sill
pan installed by RCI, as part of the SGD mock-up. On site, Max and Ibrahim directed RCI to
install blocking under the SGD sill pan step, as needed to provide adequate support. Refer
to Photo 5. RCI shall install blocking under all SGD sill pan step locations, as noted in Detail
17 B/A4.1.
b. Sheathing Replacement at SGD Perimeters: On 3-17-21, Max and Ibrahim observed FF-1
installations at the Unit #7 sliding glass door perimeter, as part of the SGD mock-up. FF-1
was installed over existing sheathing. Refer to Photo 6. As part of the BSOW, existing
sheathing was scheduled to be removed and replaced a minimum of 9" around SGD
perimeters. However, existing sheathing was observed in good condition and revisions to
SGD installation requirements were made. Via a teleconference and follow-up email to
Marcus and Shane on 3-17-21, 1 informed RCI of the SGD installation revisions. Moving
forward, the replacement of existing sheathing at SGD perimeters will be treated on a case-

by -case basis. If existing sheathing is damaged within our 9" perimeter of FF-1 installations
at scheduled SGD head and jamb locations, sheathing will require replacement to achieve
proper adhesion of FF-1. If existing sheathing is in good condition, sheathing may remain
installed. RCI will perform a pull test of FF-1 over existing sheathing review by AG onsite.
AG will review existing sheathing conditions prior to FF-1 installations through photo
documentation provided by RCI or while onsite. Review and approval of existing sheathing
by AG is required at all SGD locations prior to FF-1 installations.
c. L-Metal Modifications: On 3-17-21, Ibrahim returned to site in the afternoon to review the
installation of one (1) SGD, as required for the mock-up. On site, Ibrahim observed existing
conditions of the rough opening framing, as well as SGD dimensions were impeding the
SGD from sitting tight to integral L-metal flashings at multiple locations. Refer to Photo 7.
Via a teleconference and follow-up email on 3-18-21, it was determined the L-metal vertical
flange with hem dimension shall be increased to 1" to accommodate SGD dimensions. SGDs
shall be wet -set in SLNT-1 tight to the L-metal flashings at all locations, per the details. In
addition, the L-metal will be pre -finished in lieu of galvanized to match the SGD frame.
2. Second SGD Mock -Up (3-24-21): On 3-24-21, Max was onsite to review the second SGD mock-
up following required modifications. On site, Max approved the SGD mock-up by RCI. Refer to
items below for additional observations and direction provided onsite:
a. Shim Installations: On 3-24-21, Max documented the shim installations at the SGD mock-up
by RCI. On site, Max observed the shims being set in sealant at the leading edge, which
impedes drainage of potential water ingress. Refer to Photo 8. Max directed RCI to
temporarily remove the shims, as needed to remove the sealant bead at the leading edge.
RCI reinstalled the shims with a sealant bead at the back dam, which is acceptable.
b. L-Metal Flashing Modifications: On 3-24-21, Max documented the integral L-metal flashing
installations at the SGD mock-up rough opening. On site, Max observed the hem edge was
impeding a tight seal at L-metal corners. On site, Max approved trimming the L-metal hem
at the SGD corners, as needed to achieve a tight seal and eliminate pin holes. Refer to
Photo 9.
3. GYP-1 Installations at Storage Closets (3-24-21): On 3-24-21, Max documented GYP-1
installations at storage closet locations. On site, Max observed plywood deck sheathing
extending past the base of GYP-1 installed at one (1) storage closet location. Refer to Photo 10.
As currently installed, metal saddles cannot sit tight to GYP-1 and proper alignments of GYP-1
are impeded. RCI will trim the plywood deck sheathing and ensure GYP-1 at the storage closet
aligns with GYP-1 installed at the fascia below.
4. Tie -In Locations at Existing WRB (3-24-21): On 3-24-21, Max documented tie-in locations at
existing WRB. At multiple locations, Max observed existing WRB was not left long, as needed to
lap over new WRB. Refer to Photo 11. On site, Max directed RCI to carefully cut and remove 6"
of existing LP siding while ensuring existing WRB remains at all tie-in locations. Per the details,
existing WRB is scheduled to be left long a minimum of 6" to accommodate proper weather
lapping. Direction at existing window jamb where WRB was not left long is noted below:
a. At Existing Window at Unit #7: On 3-24-21, Max observed existing LP siding and WRB cut
and removed up to existing window trim at Unit #7. Refer to Photo 12. To provide proper
weather protection, RCI will carefully remove and store existing window trim to

accommodate FF-1 installations. RCI will install FF-1 over the existing window flange at the
left jamb prior to new WRB installations.
5. Unit #10 Transition Metal (3-24-21): On 3-24-21, Max reviewed MTL #3 transition saddles to be
installed at Unit #10. On site, Max observed the saddles were not soldered one-piece, as noted
in the 100% CDs. Refer to Photos 13 and 14. RCI will remake transition saddles to be one-piece
soldered saddles for installation at MTL #3 transitions, as noted in the drawings.
6. MEM-1 Mock -Up (3-24-21 and 3-26-21): On 3-24-21, Max was onsite to review the MEM-1
mock-up. Max documented deck edge metal (MTL #7) set in sealant with integral mesh and
MEM-1 basecoat prior to the MEM-1 mock-up. Refer to Photo 15. On site, Shane informed Max
that the membrane subcontractor installed materials the day before the scheduled mock-up.
Per Specification Section 07 18 13, AG requires review of all steps, as part of the MEM-1 mock-
up. On 3-26-21, Max reviewed and approved the sealant, seam tape, and metal flashing
installations, as part of the MEM-1 mock-up. Additional MEM-1 mock-up steps for AG review
are forthcoming following proper curing. Refer to items below for additional observations and
direction at MEM-1 component installations:
Isolation Layer at Deck to Wall Flashings: On 3-24-21, Max documented the WRB isolation
layer installed behind MTL #9 L-metal at deck to wall locations. On site, Max observed two
(2) layers of WRB installed at isolation locations, which is not required. Refer to Photo 16.
RCI shall install one (1) layer of WRB behind all MTL #9 locations. In addition, Max
documented one (1) location where WRB isolation layer was missing at the exterior corner
at the existing storage closet. Refer to Photo 17. RCI shall install one (1) layer of WRB at the
missing location.
b. Deck Edge Metal Installations: On 3-24-21, Max documented metal flashing installations on
site prior to AG review, as part of the required MEM-1 mock-up. Refer to items below for
observations and direction provided onsite:
Prep at Deck Edge Metal: On 3-24-21, Max observed the pre -finished metal was not
properly prepped prior to basecoat installations. Griding of pre -finished metal
horizontal flange did not occur at all required locations. Refer to Photo 18. On site, the
membrane subcontractor noted that grinding occurred at deck edge metal, but not up
to the deck edge, as required. Max informed the membrane subcontractor that
grinding is required up to approximately 1/2" to 1/4" from the deck edge. The
membrane subcontractor agreed and will ensure all deck edge metal installations are
prepped, as required for MEM-1 installations.
ii. Metal Seam Transition: On 3-24-21, Max documented metal seam transitions at
installed deck edge metal prior to AG review of the required mock-up. Refer to Photo
19. On 3-26-21, Max reviewed and approved the backer plate installation at MTL #7, as
part of the MEM-1 mock-up.
iii. Deck Edge Metal at Unit #8 Storage Closet: On 3-24-21, Max observed the deck edge
metal installed at Unit #8 storage closet location. On site, Max documented a hemmed
drip edge at the plywood return edge at Unit #8 storage closet. Refer to Photo 20. The
hemmed drip edge is not required and impedes reinstallation of existing vinyl trim at
the storage closet. RCI shall carefully cut and remove the hemmed drip edge to create a
straight edge at the plywood return edge.

iv. Metal Saddle Observations and Modifications: On 3-24-21, Max documented metal
saddles installed prior to review and approval by AG. Refer to Photo 21. RCI shall
confirm metal saddle cleats are installed. On 3-26-21, Max reviewed bonderized metal
saddle installations with cleats. Bonderized metal provides better adhesion for MEM-1
components and is acceptable for installation in lieu of galvanized metal saddles. In
addition, Max reviewed pre -cured wedges to be installed in lieu of end dams at metal
saddle locations integral with MEM-1. Refer to Photo 22. Pre -cured wedges are
approved for use at metal saddles in lieu of end dams as integral MEM-1 flashing
components. RCI shall set pre -cured wedges in MEM-1 basecoat.
C. FOLLOW UP & MISCELLANEOUS:
