Edmonds 12665-2021-01 Structural Recommendations January 27, 2021 REVIEWED BY Ryan Anderson, PE, SE CITY OF EDMONDS SSF Engineers completed on -site structural observation of the existing roof framing at 21302 93" PI W. in Edmonds, Washington. We understand that several interior walls (indicated with dashed lines in the attached partial roof framing plan) are proposed to be removed as part of the renovation. The existing roof framing consists primarily of premanufactured roof trusses spanning east -to -west from exterior wall to exterior wall. Where the orientation of the trusses changes to accommodate the skew in plan the roof is stick framed with rafters and ceiling joists. The rafters frame into short spanning ridge beams that are supported by full span girder trusses as indicated on the plan. The ceiling joists in this area appear to splice above the interior walls below. In these locations, we recommend supporting the existing ceiling joists up to the existing rafter above with a 2x6 each side of each splice location per SSK-2 (attached). Upon completion of the proposed ceiling joist reinforcing, the interior walls below may be removed. All existing framing shall be field verified by the contractor prior to demolition. The contractor shall notify the structural engineer if existing conditions determined during work vary from the existing construction shown on the drawing.
