OBSERVATIONS
RGI was onsite to observe the excavation for the wall and provide confirmation of wall details.
The contractor has completed the excavation and exposed
the subgrade for the wall alignment. The subgrade was
probed with a % inch diameter steel probe and suitable
conditions for support of the wall were observed.
Overexcavation of the soils from 6 to 10 inches was necessary
at the south end to provide suitable support. This will be
brought back to grade with compacted 5/8 inch minus
crushed rock that is also used for the base leveling pad.
The cuts appear stable but raveling of the soils should be
expected. Special care should be taken when setting blocks as
the excavator is located on top of the cut.
The contractor expects the base block and the drain pipe will
be complete by Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning.
RGI will return to conform drainage and block placement.
Blocks were being delivered to the site for the base.
No tracking was observed and a silt fence is installed on the
downslope portion of the project below the wall location.
