Edmonds, WA 98026 Snohomish County Sidesway Project No. 21061.01 SIDESWAY ENGINEERING Dv/�Dze�I Beltman Residence Deck July 20, 2021 Project No. 21061.01 Project Description Sidesway Engineering was retained by the homeowner to perform analysis and design as necessary to obtain a building permit for the proposed covered deck at the existing single family residence located at 7220 179th Street S.W. in Edmonds. The deck and roof are nearly finished being built and was constructed without a permit. Sidesway Engineering was retained to provide retroactive engineering to demonstrate code conformance and correct structural deficiencies as needed for permit. The deck and roof are framed with treated rafters and joists supported by treated beams and columns. The foundation consists of spread footings at frost depth. The deck lateral resistance will be provided by tying these appendixes to the existing home, utilizing the existing home's lateral system. Scope of Work Provide gravity and lateral calculations for the covered deck as required to obtain a building permit. Provide hand sketched framing plans and details as necessary for permit. Any items not specifically called out shall be framed conventionally per IRC deck standards. Design Criteria 2018 International Building Code (2018 IBC) 2018 International Existing Building Code (2018 IEBC) ASCE 7-16 Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures Applicable Material Reference Standards (ACI, MSJC, AISC, NDS) This is a Risk Category II structure designed for the following loads: Dead Loads: 12psf (deck), 12psf (deck roof) Live Load: 60psf (residential deck) Snow Load: 25 psf Wind Loads: V = 100mph, Exposure'B' Seismic Load: R = 6.5 (wood shear wall), Site Class D, SDC D (refer to seismic loads) Project Summary The covered deck as analyzed and designed in the following calculations conform to the provisions of the 2018 IBC and IEBC. Refer to the following sketches and calculations for structural framing requirements. Disclaimer This calculation package is based on the documentation that was available to us.
