This letter is in response to the building department comments emailed to you by the City of Edmonds for the above -
mentioned project. My response to their structural comments are listed below. A mark-up of your plans clarifying structural
information is attached. Please don't hesitate to contact me should you have further questions or would like clarification.
Building Department Review
Item # 1: Plans are insufficient. Please show items on plans, not in commentary attached. Please follow the attached
handout for additions/remodels. We will need structural engineer to supply calcs for walls removal and other structural
changes. Be sure to get engineers' signature on calcs and plans. We will also need energy info. (windows, insulation -if
altering etc).
Response: Please reference the attached floor plan (page 3) clarifying the walls to be removed for the
remodel. Through further review of the roof structure photos, and the typical roof construction for a house of this
age and style, there is indication that the interior walls to be removed are not load bearing walls. The contractor
shall contact me during construction should existing conditions differ from what can be seen in the photo
assessment of the roof.
