OPERATIONAL AND CONSTRUCTION PERMITS
General Scope and Administration of Fire Prevention Permits
IFC 105.1.1 Permits Reauired:
Any property owner or authorized agent who intends to conduct an operation or business, or install or modify systems and equipment
which is regulated by this code, or to cause any such work to be done, shall first make application to the fire code official and obtain the
required permit. Permit fees, if any, may be required to be paid prior to issuance of the permit. Failure to pay the required permit fee
may result in cancellation of the permit.
IFC 105.1.2 Types of Permits:
1. Operational Permit. An operational permit allows the applicant to conduct an operation or a business for which a permit is required by
Section 105.6 for either: 1.1 A prescribed period. 1.2 Until renewed or revoked.
2. Construction Permit. A construction permit allows the applicant to install or modify systems and equipment for which a permit is
required by Section 105.7.
IFC 105.2 Application:
Application for a permit required by this code shall be made to the Fire Code Official in such form and detail as prescribed by the Fire
Code Official. Applications for permits shall be accompanied by such plans as prescribed by the Fire Code Official.
-All tents, canopies, and other membrane structures erected shall meet the requirements of the current edition of NFPA 701 and the
IFC Section 3103 and 3104 and shall be labeled fire resistive.
-Tents need to be less than 400 sq ft or additional permit maybe required. The aggregate area of multiple tents placed side by side shall
not exceed 700 square feet without having a 12-foot fire break. Break may be reduced to 10' with the approval of the fire official. IFC
3104.6 Smoking shall not be permitted in tents or membrane structures.
In addition, no flame producing items or equipment will be allowed to be under or within ten feet of the tent or membrane structures.
Heating will be allowed only by approved methods. No portable gas devices are allowed. This includes portable generators, heating
devices and other cooking devices. Electric heaters will need to be inspected and comply with all electrical codes. Any approved
heating method that will be required an emergency shutdown and signage.
The permit will be issued by the Permitting Specialists, after the fire code official and building official have reviewed the application, the
fees have been paid and comment have been provided.
IFC 105.3 Conditions of a Permit:
105.3.1 Expiration
An operational permit shall remain in effect until reissued, renewed or revoked, or for such a period of time as specified in the permit.
Construction permit s shall automatically become invalid unless the work authorized by such permit is commenced within 180 days
after its issuance, or if the work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned for a period of 180 days after the time the work
is commenced. Before such work recommences, a new permit shall be first obtained and the fee to recommence work, if any, shall be
one-half the amount required for a new permit for such work, provided that changes have not been made and will not be made in the
original construction documents for such work, and provided further that such suspension or abandonment has not exceeded one
year. Permits are not transferable and any change in occupancy, operation, tenancy or ownership shall require that a new permit be
issued.

IFC 105.3 (continued) Conditions of a Permit:
105.3.6 Comaliance with Code
The issuance or granting of a permit shall not be construed to be a permit for, or an approval of, any violation of any of the provisions of
this code or of any other ordinance of the jurisdiction. Permits presuming to give authority to violate or cancel the provisions of this code
or other ordinances of the jurisdiction shall not be valid. The issuance of a permit based on construction documents and other data shall
not prevent the fire code official from requiring the correction of errors in the construction documents and other data. Any addition to
or alteration of approved construction documents shall be approved in advance by the fire code official, as evidenced by the issuance of
a new or amended permit.
105.3.8 Validitv of Permit
The issuance or granting of a permit shall not be construed to be a permit for, or an approval of, any violation of any of the provisions of
this code or of any other ordinances of the jurisdiction. Permit presuming to give authority to violate or cancel the provisions of this code
or other ordinances of the jurisdiction shall not be valid. The issuance of a permit based on construction documents, operational
documents and other data shall not prevent the fire code official from requiring correction of errors in the documents or other data
IFC 105.5 Revocation:
The fire code official is authorized to revoke a permit issued under the provisions of this code where it is found by inspection or
otherwise that there has been a false statement or misrepresentation as to the material facts in the application or construction
documents on which the permit or approval was based including, but not limited to, any one of the following:
1. The permit is used for a location or establishment other than that for which it was issued.
2. The permit is used for a condition or activity other than that listed in the permit.
3. Conditions and limitations set forth in the permit have been violated.
4. There have been any false statements or misrepresentations as to the material fact in the application for permit or plans
submitted or a condition of the permit.
5. The permit is used by a different person or firm than the name for which it was issued.
6. The permittee failed, refused or neglected to comply with orders or notices duly served in accordance with the provisions of
this code within the time provided therein.
7. The permit was issued in error or in violation of an ordinance, regulation or this code.
Electrical Cords
Minimum size 12-2 with ground UL approved outdoor rated from power feed source, 14-2 with ground UL approved is allowed
elsewhere.
All cords shall be free of splices, cuts or breaks in outer sheathing.
UL or other approved Strip Plugs with integral circuit breaker are the only allowed power tap/adapter.

Fuel Use/Storage
No generators are allowed unless they are part of the food truck fuel system or fueled by LP/CNG, NO GASOLINE REFUELING IS
ALLOWED.
Free standing generators need to comply with above and any City code and Ordinances. Diesel, CNG and LP are allowed after proper
permitting Fire Code Official approval.
