To the City of Edmonds reviewer,
We are structural engineers licensed in Washington State, and familiar with residential construction.
This letter is in regards to the remodel at the address above.
A remodel of the above home has already been completed, including finishes. The area of work
included the removal of an interior wall, changing the interior wall layout, as well as changing several windows.
We have reviewed the plans and photos of the interior as well as the attic. The existing roof is
constructed of manufactured trusses with press plates. These trusses were originally designed to span across the
house, only loading the exterior walls. Based on this, all of the interior walls beneath these trusses are non -
bearing walls. No design is required for the interior wall changes.
The existing windows at the existing bedroom have been replaced with new smaller windows. The
existing windows at the existing bathroom have been split into two smaller windows (one in each of the new,
smaller bathrooms). No new headers are required, and the length of exterior wall has not been reduced. Based
in this, no design is required for the window changes.
The existing remodel is acceptable as constructed, and does not require additional structural design.
