Due to height restrictions, the trusses for the above -referenced plan were redesigned with a
lower slope to be installed adjacent to the existing trusses. It is intended that the existing trusses
are to then be trimmed to match the profile of the new trusses.
The following outlines a structurally adequate method of making this revision:
1. Remove roofing and roof sheathing.
2. Remove gable end trusses to make room for new gables.
3. Install new gables and make connection to top plate with A35 @ 24" CC.
4. Install new trusses directly adjacent to existing trusses. Connection from existing trusses
to double top plates below shall remain intact.
5. Bottom chord of trusses to be fastened together with 3/8"x3" lag screws @ 48" OC —
staggered.
6. All other roof truss overlap areas to be fastened using 10d nails @ 24" OC from each side
— staggered.
7. Remove existing girder truss,
8. Install new girder truss in its original location.
9. Hang existing/new `sistered' trusses from new girder w/ HU26-2 or equivalent.
10. Remove, replace and re -nail structural roof blocking as required.
11. Replace roof sheathing with nailing per original structural notes.
12. Replace roofing.
