PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
TEMPORARY TENT
JOB NAME/ADDRESS:
The Loft
515 Main Street
Edmonds, WA
FIRE PLAN REVIEW NOTES:
1. All tents will need to match what is submitted, all existing tents, awnings, sunshades
etc. will need to be removed for fire marshal approval.
2. The temporary tent permit is only good for 180 days, on any parcel, in a calendar
year.
3. Under the temporary tents and structures guidelines: "Tents must be no closer than
12 feet to a property line, without prior approval from fire marshal." To achieve
approval to reduce the 12 feet to a minimum of 3 feet, you must show:
a) The adjacent building is further than 12 feet from property line or,
b) The adjacent building is of a construction than provides a 1 hour fire barrier
without any openings.
and:
4. Temporary tents and structures cannot block an existing egress from a structure or
building.
5. Temporary tents and structures cannot block egress signage from being visible
6. Open flames such as candles, torches, fire pits, etc. are not allowed inside tents or on
tables.
Resubmit with the following:
1. Information that the buildings on the adjacent properties are constructed of a
material that will suggest they are a 1 hour fire barrier without openings.
2. On one drawing show all of the following:
a) Seating layout, egress (building and temporary tent or structure) accessibility,
fire extinguishers, heating equipment etc.

b) An unobstructed 3 foot wide egress from the business structure past the
temporary tent or structure to the exit. (in the event of an emergency, persons that exit
through the back of the business, that are unfamiliar with the layout, can easily find their way to
the exit without assistance)
c) The exterior heating method is the preferred type of heating. Show where fuel
will be stored and where the empty cylinders will be stored
d) Ensure drawings are more accurate, if doors are a single swing show as such,
give more precise distances from objects. Show objects such as planter boxes
size and locations.
e) The more accurate the floor plan or drawing is and the more information that is
provided, will assist the Fire Marshal in providing feedback or approval of the
design, on a case -by -case basis.
3. Reserve separate drawings for anchors, heating system specifications, Flame
retardant certificate etc.
