Electrical systems required for this work includes all labor, materials, equipment, and services necessary to complete installation of electrical work as designed by bidder and specified herein or required for a complete operable facility and not specifically described in other sections of these specifications. Among the items required are: 1. Service and distribution equipment, including utility work per utility standards for phone/ TV. Stub conduits to utility demarcation per utility. See prints. 2.Chases to sub —distribution and branch circuit panels. Provide conduit distribution in slabs to areas not accessible by walls. 3.13ranch circuit wiring for HVAC, shop equipment, outlets and lighting per prints. 4.Bidder designed fire alarm system 5.It is the intent of this section to direct a design bidder to provide a complete and compliant electrical system design and installation. Any items not mentioned in these specifications but indicated on the drawings shall be held to be implied and shall be furnished and installed. SAFETY: B. In accordance with generally accepted construction practices, the Contractor is solely and completely responsible for conditions of the job site, including safety of all persons and property during performance of the work. This requirement applies continuously and is not limited to normal working hours. MATERIALS: A. Provide electrical materials of the type and quality indicated, or prior approved substitute, new, listed by the Underwriters' Laboratories, bearing their label wherever standards have been established and label service is regularly furnished by them. Indicated brand names and catalog numbers are used to establish standards of performance and quality. CODES AND PERMIT: A. Comply with the latest Rules and Regulations of the Codes of the State and local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). Contractor responsible for apprising himself of the pertinent Codes prior to commencing work. B. Information provided on the electrical drawings is bid design info and for the sole use of active engineering for bidding and installation purposes. Transfer of documents to a 2nd party assumes 2nd party liability. C. Photometric info provided on these sheets are the results of product information computed by a commercially available program. Make electrical connections in accordance with equipment manufacturer's instructions. B. Make conduit connections to equipment using flexible conduit. Use liquid tight flexible conduit with watertight connectors in damp or wet locations. C. Make wiring connections using wire and cable with insulation suitable for temperatures encountered in heat producing equipment. D. Provide receptacle where connection with attachment plug is required. Provide cord and cap where field —supplied attachment plug is required. RACEWAY REQUIREMENTS: A. Concealed Raceway System: Conceal raceway systems throughout, unless noted otherwise. B. MC cable: MC cable may be utilized as allowed by code. C. Feeders: Do not combine feeder runs in conduits. Raceway System: Complete electrical raceway installation before starting the installation of conductors and cables. Raceway system of conduit, tubing or duct and fittings including but not limited to connectors, couplings, offsets, elbows, bushings, expansion and defection fittings and other components and accessories. WIRES AND CABLES — CONDUCTOR INSTALLATION: A. Install conductors in raceways having adequate, Code size cross —sectional area for wires indicated. Pull all conductors in raceway at same time. B. Install conductors with care to avoid damage to insulation. C. Do not apply greater tension on conductors than recommended by manufacturer during installation. MC cable shall not exceed bending radius as allowed by code. MOTOR DISCONNECTS INSTALLATION: A. Coordinate fuse ampere rating with installed equipment. Fuse ampere rating variance between original design information and installed equipment, size in accordance with Bussmann Fuesetron 40 degrees Celcius recommendations. Do not provide fuses of lower ampere rating than motor starter heaters. B. Provide and install all necessary lighting and power outlets as required by code, regardless of print outlet placement. MAIN SERVICE: A. Utility Company Requirements: Verify and meet all utility company requirements. 1.Comply with every respect with requirements of Serving Electric Utility pertaining to equipment installed by Division 16. Including grounding, primary conduits, metering. 2.Coordinate new main service with serving utility company regarding the route and location of new service laterals. 3.All requirements of the serving utility company shall govern the service installation and take precedence over the drawings in event of variance; the serving utility company is to be notified at the time work is started. LIGHTING REQUIREMENTS: A. Design and provide lighting outlets and indicate on the drawings with fixture of the type and the intended location. Outlet symbols on the drawings without a type designation shall have a fixture the same as those used in similar or like locations. All lighting not identified on the electrical drawing bid documents shall be bidder design and provided, including exit and egress. Where a discrepancy regarding the reflected ceiling plan exists between the architectural prints and electrical, the architectural plans shall take precedence. Provide a budget for each light as indicated on the drawing fixture schedule . B. Provide lamps for all fixtures; fixture design to govern type of lamp required. C. Fixtures shall have bodies and trims which fit neatly and tightly to the surfaces in which they are installed without leaks or gaps. Where necessary, install heat resistant non rubber gaskets to prevent light leaks or moisture from entering between parts fixture and the surface to which they are mounted. D. Fixtures shall be formed to prevent warping and sagging. Housing, trim and lens frame shall be true straight (unless intentionally curved), and parallel to each other as designed. FIRE Al APKA- A. The work covered by this section of the specifications includes the complete design, construction drawings, furnishing of all labor, equipment, materials, and performance of all operations in connection with the installation of the Fire Alarm System. B. The complete installation shall conform to the applicable section of NFPA-72D, E, Local Code Requirements, Washington Administrative Code, American Disabilities Act and National Electrical Code. C. These specifications describe the general nature of the fire alarm system and are intended to aid the contractor, subcontractor and/or supplier in providing the system required. See Architectural and Mechanical drawings and specifications for additional system requirements. Contractor shall provide all devices required by local Fire Marshall and local jurisdiction as a part of this work. D. The requirements of the conditions of the Contract, Supplementary Conditions and General Requirements, apply to the work specified in this section. The designed drawings shall be submitted to the local Fire Marshall and approved, prior to submittal to the Architect for shop drawing review. Design drawings shall consist of complete system plan views indicating equipment layout, device layout, raceway routing and sizing, point to —point wiring, termination and connection diagrams and wire numbers for all conductors and connections.
