APPROVED PLN RESPONSE 3 PLN+12.8.2022_2.48.55_PM+3259688BLD2022-1637 RESUB APPROVED BY PLANNING Dec 09 2022 Dec 09 2022 CITY OF EDMONDS DEVELOPMENT SERVICE$ DEPARTMENT This letter is in response to the comment about the noise concern. The unit is rated at 70 dBA. This is measured from the manufacturer at 6 feet from the unit. When this is doubled, the decibels drop by 6. This means around the fence line; our rating would be 64dBA. There is a solid wood fence on the property line between the two houses. Solid wood fences reduce the decibels by 6-10clBA. This would put our noise output on the neighbor's side at 58-54dBA. We will install a sound blanket to also help reduce the noise. Sound blankets reduce the noise by a minimum of 5dBA- 40% reduction. At high end of our noise, our unit would produce 53dBA on the neighbor's side of the property line. Although this calculation is based on the maximum output possible and is likely going to be less during normal operation, I have been allowed to install units louder than the 45dBA nighttime requirement with the agreement of energy efficient usage during the quiet hours. Is this an option for this case? We agree to complying to the nighttime usage restrictions.
