Current wall is 8 feet long and extends from the floor with a double joist, up to a rafter in the attic above. The proposed plan calls for a new door at one end of this shear wall thus shortening it by 2 feet. We plan to upgrade the remaining 6 feet of wall to carry the lateral load. Current wall: good for 436 PLF 1/2" GWB each side with Sd cooler nails. Proposed wall: good for 672 PLF One side 15/32" CDX plywood sheathing, or 7/16" OSB nailed 8d at 6"oc edges 12" oc field. Block all panel edges. Current load 8 ft x 436 PLF = 3488#, Proposed load 6 ft x 672 PLF = 4032# OK Plate nailing: 16d at 8" oc is Existing. No change needed.
