OBSERVATIONS
RGI was onsite to observe the excavation for the wall and construction progress.
The contractor has completed the over excavation at the
southern end of the excavation. Contractor has brought the
pad back to grade with 5/8 inch minus and compacted it in
lifts with hoe-pac. When probed with a %" diameter steel
tipped T-probe suitable conditions for support of the wall
were observed.
Contractor has started placing the first layer of blocks and
installed drainage behind the wall. Perorated drain pipe has
been surrounded by drain rock to the depth of the first blocks,
and surrounded all the rock with filter fabric.
More blocks are arriving on site tomorrow, and the second
row will be started then.
The cuts appear stable but raveling of the soils should be
expected. Special care should be taken when setting blocks as
the excavator is located on top of the cut.
No tracking was observed and a silt fence is installed on the
downslope portion of the project below the wall location.
