It is our understanding that SPF sawn lumber material was used in lieu of DF sawn
lumber specified on the approved plans. We have reviewed the photos received on
September 30, 2022 along with the information you have provided. The bottom
plate material is existing and per the as -built plans is DF material. New SPF bearing
studs installed below the new beam bear on the existing bottom plates. This is
structurally acceptable.
