REV 5 2020-06-19_Hyundai Fire Service Field Conflict LetterCECIL ASSOCIATES June 19, 2020 Jeanie McConnell Engineering Division 121 5ch Avenue N Edmonds, WA 98020 RE: BLD20190120 — Hyundai Sales & Service Plan Revision: Hwy. 99 Fire Service Revision Dear Jeanie: We are submitting this field revision with a sense of urgency. The contractor opened up Hwy. 99 to make a wet -tap connection for the 6" fire service and discovered existing utility conflicts with the connection. There is a 24" dia. storm main that will prevent a wet -tap and PSE gas located behind the water main that would prevent concrete restraint from being installed. Therefore, we have coordinated in the field with inspector, Jeff Gaff, and over the phone with utility reviewer, Mike Delilla, to arrive at the attached revision. A cut -in connection will be required. A length of DI spool will be installed under the existing storm main to a 6-inch gate valve (in -line) on the fire service branch. In lieu of a thrust block the pipe & tee will be restrained by installing Mega Lug Mechanical Joint connections, replacing a length of 8-inch main on either side of the tee, and Mega Lug Mechanical Joint connections from the connection to the DDCV vault. The EBBA Iron online Restraint Length Calculator was used to verify the Mega Lug Mechanical Joint length requirements accordingly. I've attached a photo of the conflict and a screen shot of the Restraint Length Calculator so the calculation can be verified. Again, we consider this to be pretty urgent. An expedited response would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! Thanks, John C. Farleigh, P.E.
