Sidesway Engineering has completed our structural observation of the two recently installed steel beams
at the single family residence noted above. These beams were designed by Sidesway Engineering and the
building department approved permit documents were on site for review.
We performed visual observation of the steel construction in accordance with Section 1704.6 of the 2018
International Building Code and it is our opinion that the work was performed in general conformance with
the approved construction documents and AISC 360. The steel shop fabricated the beams with a WABO
certified welder (ID#W15030) and the beam notch detail and connection plates appeared to match
requirements shown on S1.1. The wide flange connection bolts were snug tight with washers and all plies
of steel in firm contact. SAE grade 8 bolts were substituted in for the A325 bolts specified, however this
was determined to be acceptable structurally.
Our observation was performed on June 1st subject to the standard of care applicable to professional
services and doesn't warrant or guarantee that all conditions were discovered. Please call if you have any
