At client's request, ESNW rep was onsite to test compaction of backfill placed over stormwater utility and
retrieve a proctor sample.
Compaction of Backfill Over Stormwater Utility:
While onsite ESNW rep observed contractor working on the stormwater trench between the existing
storm utility and C13-1. Contractor expressed to rep that at the bottom of the trench a 12-inch corrugated
PVC pipe was bedded in 5/8ths minus crushed rock. Contractor expressed that the backfill consisted of
14 minus crushed rock placed in one -foot lifts and compacted with a hoe pack. Rep took compaction
tests and observed compaction of 95 percent or more at the tested locations. See table and picture
below with approximate test locations.
Retrieval of Proctor Sample:
While onsite ESNW rep retrieved a proctor sample of 14 minus crushed rock that is being used as backfill
for the stormwater utility.
