Hazard ("high" or "extreme" by TRAQ standards) or nuisance (causing significant damage to property) trees may be removed from critical areas with supporting documentation from a Certified Arborist per ECDC 23.10.040.F and 23.40.220(C)8(b). jI' Based on the report submitted by your arborist, the following trees are approved for removal: Tree #1 as a nuisance tree causing deck damage Tree #2 as a hazard tree Tree #3 as a hazard tree Tree #4 as a hazard tree Although your arborist recommends Trees #1-4 be removed to stumps, please consider converting one or each of these trees to a wildlife habitat snag. Tree #5 does not meet the criteria for tree removal in a critical area per ECDC 23.40.220.(C)8(b) and is not approved for removal. It may be pruned as recommended by your arborist. To pursue the removal of trees in critical areas that do not meet hazard or nuisance criteria, you would need to submit a Geotech report that affirms that the removal will not negatively impact the critical area/buffer. The Geotech report will need to be submitted as a Type 1 permit application (fees apply) through mybuildingpermit.com. Feel free to print this email to show your tree care professional that Trees #1-4 have been reviewed/approved for removal by the City. Thank you again for your patience and please don't hesitate to contact me if you have additional questions regarding Edmonds' tree codes. Regarding PLN2022-0086 Hi Deb, Can you you please me help me with my permits/application? It's been more than six weeks since I filed for it and I've reached out to you and asked for updates several times, waiting ample time each time before reaching out again. I had 20 gigantic branches fall from one of my supposedly healthy trees this past week- this is a wake up call for me and I'd really appreciate it if we can move forward with my hazardous/high risk tree removal application.
