PLN2023-0003_email responseFrom: Powers, Deb To: "wash ingtonmrnCayahoo.com" Cc: Martin, Michelle Subject: PLN2023-0003/Hazard Tree Removal - Critical Area Date: Monday, February 6, 2023 1:58:03 PM Good Afternoon Marilyn, Thank you for submitting your hazard tree removal request to the City of Edmonds. I have reviewed the materials and found that the tree fits 'hazard' tree criteria per ECDC 23.10.040.F.3, as evidenced by the submitted TRAQ form and photos. You may proceed with reducing the tree to a safe -height wildlife snag as proposed. No permit fees are involved with hazard tree removal requests in critical areas. The status of your request is approved; however you are required to plant replacement trees per ECDC 23.40.220.C.8.b.iv due to the critical areas on your property (see below). Two replacement trees must be planted for each tree removed (2:1) within one year. Replacement trees may be planted at a different, nearby location if it can be determined that planting in the same location would create a new hazard or potentially damage the critical area. Replacement trees shall be native species and a minimum of 1-2" diameter at 4.5' for deciduous trees and a minimum of 6' in height for evergreen trees as measured from the top of the root ball. Please contact the me when the replacement trees have been planted so that I can schedule an inspection to verify their planting. Please let me know if you have any questions.
