PLN2023-0025/Tree Removal Request in Critical Area/7329 158th Street SW
Hi Sharon,
Thank you for submitting the required materials and for your patience waiting for review of your hazard tree removal
request. I have approved the removal to wildlife -snag -height 3 red alders located on your property per ECDC
23.40.220.C.8(b)ii. Note that "tree removal" is defined as the direct or indirect removal of greater than 50 percent of the
live crown of the tree per ECDC 23.10.220.V. The extent of tree branch/trunk removal described in the arborist report as
2 lower trunks "...be removed to leave a short snag with trunks between 10'-20' tall," and the single largest uphill tree
trunk "be shortened to leave a partial living snag" constitutes the removal of 3 trees.
Due to the presence of multiple critical areas* (below), 6 replacement trees are required per ECDC 23.40.220.C.8(b)i and
iv: ... landowner shall replace any trees that are removed with new trees at a ratio of two replacement trees for each tree
removed (2:1) within one year in accordance with an approved restoration plan. Once the replacement trees have been
planted, please notify me or the Planning Division to schedule an inspection verifying the removal conditions have been
met. Thank you.
*Earth subsidence/landslide area, minimum buffer adjacent to hazard, landslide/erosion hazard, greater than 25% slope,
wildland urban interface, etc. You can view critical areas online through the City's GIS mapping tool.
