I have approved the removal to wildlife -snag -height 3 red alders located on your property per ECDC 23.40.220.C.8(b)ii. Note that "tree removal" is defined as the direct or indirect removal of greater than 50 percent of the live crown of the tree per ECDC 23.10.220.V. The extent of tree branch/trunk removal described in the arborist report as 2 lower trunks "...be removed to leave a short snag with trunks between 10'-20' tall," and the single largest uphill tree trunk "be shortened to leave a partial living snag" constitutes the removal of 3 trees. Due to the presence of multiple critical areas* (below), 6 replacement trees are required per ECDC 23.40.220.C.8(b)i and iv: ... landowner shall replace any trees that are removed with new trees at a ratio of two replacement trees for each tree removed (2:1) within one year in accordance with an approved restoration plan. Once the replacement trees have been planted, please notify me or the Planning Division to schedule an inspection verifying the removal conditions have been met.
