Call to Order Bill Taylor called the meeting to order at 5:00 PM 2. Approval of Agenda Agenda approved unanimously. 3. Approval of August 9, 2023, meeting minutes Minutes approved unanimously. 4. Email Usage Bill Taylor reminded everyone to use city provided email for salary commission business. S. Consultant progress report Consultants provided updated data from 16 comparable cities, data from MIT, and other jurisdictions beyond cities including counties, library district, and ports. 6. Results of interviews with Council Members and Mayor Each council member and mayor were interviewed by two members of the salary commission. Results of the interviews were discussed and considered by the salary commission. Important talking points included understanding more clearly how much time council members work per week. 7. DEI Considerations Part of the interviews with council members and mayor included asking each person what the salary commission should be considering in terms of DEI. The salary commissioners discussed results and ideas on how to incorporate when making salary commission recommendations. An important point was making sure that compensation would attract more diverse candidates for city council. 8. Other items Mr. Taylor discussed ideas on encouraging more public input as the salary commission does their work. Salary commissioners believe they have enough data for deliberation to begin at the next meeting on 8/30. Salary commissioners will reach out to local business groups to extend their reach to more citizens. 9. Adjourn The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
