THE MINIMUM REQUIRED STRUCTURAL STEEL SHAPES FOR THE SOLDIER PILES ARE INDICATED
IN THE SCHEDULES. ALTERNATIVE STEEL SECTIONS MAY BE USED PROVIDED THAT THE
GROSS -SECTIONAL AREA AND SECTION MODULUS OF EACH ALTERNATIVE STEEL SECTION

EXCAVATION SHALL BE COMPLETED IN A CONTINUOUS OPERATION USING EOUIPMENT
CAPABLE OF EXCAVATING THROUGH THE TYPE OF MATERIAL EXPECTED TO BE

IF THE SHAFT EXCAVATION 15 STOPPED WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE ENGINEER, THE SHAFT

TEMPORARY CASINGS FOR THE SHAFTS SHALL BE REMOVED. A MINIMUM 5 FOOT HEAD OF

MANNER AS TO MAINTAIN A SAFE WORK PLACE AND AVOID EXCESSIVE SLOUGHING AND

• ALL SEWER AND STORM LINES IN THE ROW WITHIN 10 FEET (OR WITHIN 20 FEET IF SUCH
LINES ARE 30 FEET OR MORE OFF SITE PROPERTY LINE) OF ANY PROPOSED SHORING
ELEMENT SHALL BE VIDEOTAPED OF PRE -PROJECT CONDITION AND A COPY SENT TO

SURVEY MEASUREMENTS TO AN ACCURACY OF 0.01 FEET. BASELINE READINGS OF ALL
MONITORING POINTS ARE TO BE TAKEN PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION. ALL
RESULTS ARE TO BE SENT TO THE GEOTECHNICAL SPECIAL INSPECTOR WITHIN 24 HOURS
AND TO 5DC1 AND 5D07 WEEKLY. A LICENSED SURVEYOR CONTRACTED DIRECTLY WITH
THE OWNER (NOT THE CONTRACTOR OR AN AGENT OF THE CONTRACTOR) MU57

• OPTICAL SURVEY POINTS SHALL BE ESTABLISHED AT THE TOP OF THE SHORING WALL
AROUND THE PERIMETER OF THE EXCAVATION. ESTABLISH MONITORING POINTS ON TOP
OF EVERY OTHER PILE. MONITORING POINTS SHALL BE ESTABLISHED ON EXISTING
SETTLEMENT -SENSITIVE STRUCTURES LOCATED CLOSER TO THE EXCAVATION THAN A
HORIZONTAL D157ANOE EQUAL TO THE EXCAVATION DEPTH, PRIOR TO DEWATERINS,
EXCAVATION, AND INSTALLATION OF 5HORIN6 SYSTEMS.
• SURVEY FREQUENCY CAN BE DEGREASED AFTER THE SHORING SYSTEM HAS BEEN
INSTALLED AND EXCAVATION 15 COMPLETE IF THE DATA INDICATES LITTLE OR NO
ADDITIONAL MOVEMENT. 5URVEYING MUST CONTINUE UNTIL THE PERMANENT 57RU07URE
(INGLUDINS FLOOR SLAB5 AS BRACES) 15 COMPLETE UP TO FINAL AND STREET
GRADES. THE SURVEY FREQUENCY WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE 5EOTEGHNICAL

SHORING WALL DESIGNER MAY ALSO BE PRESENT, BUT NOT INSTEAD OF THE

• THE 5EOTECHNICAL ENGINEER SHALL REVIEW SURVEY DATA AND PROVIDE AN
EVALUATION OF WALL PERFORMANCE, A GRAPHICAL REPRESENTATION OF WALL
MOVEMENT, AND SURVEY DATA TO 5DG1 AND SDOT ON AT LEAST A WEEKLY BASIS.
