Stormwater Management Inc. i
s the leading provider of innovative, long-term,
stormwater treatment solutions, offering a variety of products, maintenance, laboratory,
and engineering support to meet your stormwater treatment needs.
Stormwater Managements patented signature product is the Stormwater Management
StonnFilter0, a Best Management Practice (BMP) designed to meet federal, state, and
local requirements for treating stormwater runoff in compliance with the Ciean Water Act.
The StormFilter improves the quality of stormwater runoff before it enters receiving
waterways through the use of its customizable filter media, which removes non -point
source pollutants, including sediments (TSS), oil and grease, soluble metals, nutrients,
and organics.
Since the development of the StormFilter technology in 1992, continued, extensive
research has resulted in the development of filter cartridges, a priming system, and new
filter media options. In 2000, the Catch Basin StormFilter'"" was introduced, which
incorporates the StormFilter cartridge into a catch basin inlet to offer stormwater
treatment solutions for small sites and retrofit situations. Stormwater Management now
also offers, in 2001, three additional products: the StormGateT"', a high -flow bypass; the
StormGate SeparatorTM', a combination high -flow bypass with an offline settling tank; and
the StormScreenT"', astructural BMP that uses a series of patented, radial flow screen
cartridges to accommodate larger watershed
treatment than offered by the StormFilter.

Stormwater Management is the leading provider of innovative, long-term, stormwater
treatment products that help engineers, developers, contractors, and jurisdictional
authorities keep our watervvays clean.
To treat stormwater runoff, Stormwater Management offers a variety of products and a
variety of maintenance, laboratory, and engineering support.
Stormwater Management's patented signature product is the Stormwater Management
StormFilter (StormFilter), a Best Management Practice (BMP) designed to meet federal,
state, and local requirements for treating stormwater runoff in compliance with the Clean
Water Act.
The StormFilter, a passive, flow -through, stormwater filtration system, improves the
quality of stormwater runoff from the urban environment before it enters receiving
watervvays by removing non -point source pollutants, including sediment (TSS), oil and
grease, soluble metals, nutrients, organics, and trash and debris.
The StormFilter excels in a wide variety of applications and is being used to treat runoff
from a wide variety of sites including, but not limited to: retail and commercial
developments, residential streets, urban roadways, freeways, and industrial sites such
as shipyards, foundries, and high tech developments.
Forjurisdictional authorities, the StormFilter system offers high levels of pollutant
removal and improved water quality. For developers and contractors, the StormFilter is
cost-effective, easy to install, and uses no additional land (completely underground). For
engineers, full design support, provided by Stormwater Management at no extra cost, is
invaluable.
Operation
The StormFilter is typically comprised of a vault that houses rechargeable, media -filled,
filter cartridges. Stormwater from storm drains is percolated through these media -filled
cartridges, which trap particulates and remove pollutants such as dissolved metals,
nutrients, and hydrocarbons. During the filtering process, the StormFilter system also
removes surface scums and floating oil and grease. Once filtered through the media,
the treated stormwater is directed to a collection pipe or discharged to an open channel
drainage way.
Configurations
The StormFilter is offered in five basic configurations: precast, linear, catch basin, cast -
in -place, and corrugated metal pipe form. The precast, linear, and catch basin models
use pre -manufactured units to ease the design and installation process; cast -in -place
units are customized for larger flows and may be either uncovered or covered
underground units. The corrugated metal pipe units can be easily customized to meet
special site requirements. Figure 1 below shows a typical precast StormFilter unit. See
the "StormFilte' design section for information on and images of the other
configurations.
