Today, the contractor set up and installed helical piles H17, H15, and H8 (see Figure 1). See Table 1 for helical pile installation details. The helical piles appeared to be installed to minimum specifications, per plan. The crew from Advanced Foundation Supports was very efficient, and all helical piles were installed without problem. We understand that the contractor is waiting on direction from the structural engineer regarding installation of helical piles H3, H4, and H6. Helical Pile H3 and H4 are both located in tight, confined spaces with very low clearance, making installation very difficult. We understand that the contractor has suggested using pipe piles as an alternate in these locations and is waiting for a response from CG Engineering. In addition, what appears to be a timber pile was found at the original location of helical pile H6 (see Photo 1). Relocating H6 around the corner of the foundation, closer to H7, would provide enough room for installation, but this can't be done until it has been reviewed and approved by CG Engineering. Work finished at 1:30PM, and AESI plans to return later in the week to continue observing helical pile installation.
