THOROUGHLY CLEAN THE 11 FOOTING WHERE THE BRACKET IS TO BE INSTALLED. VERIFY THAT THE BOTTOM OF THE FOOTING IS LEVEL SIDE TO SIDE AND FRONT TO BACK. MAKE THE BOTTOM OF THE FOOTING LEVEL IF IT IS NOT LEVEL UTILIZING HIGH STRENGTH GROUT OR SIMILAR MATERIAL. 8. POSITION THE PIER BRACKET INTO THE RAM CYLINDER ASSEMBLY NOTCH AND SECURE IT IN PLACE WITH CRIBBING BENEATH THE PIER BRACKET. CONNECT THE HYDRAULIC RAM TO THE HYDRAULIC PUMP. CONNECT A CALIBRATED HYDRAULIC PRESSURE GAUGE BETWEEN THE RAM AND THE PUMP. ENGAGE THE HYDRAULIC RAM UNTIL THE DRIVE CYLINDER HEAD IS TIGHT AGAINST THE STARTER TUBE. 9. BEGIN MONITORING THE FOUNDATION MOVEMENT AS THE PIERS ARE ADVANCED TO THE LOAD BEARING STRATUM. DO NOT EXCEED 4200 PSI (40,000 LBS) ON THE HYDRAULIC RAM (OR EQUIVALENT PRESSURE EQUAL TO 40,000 LBS DEPENDING ON THE GAGE CALIBRATION). ADDITIONAL TUBES ARE ADDED BY SLIDING THE ADDED TUBE INTO THE COUPLING ON THE JUST -INSTALLED TUBE. ADVANCE THE ADDITIONAL TUBES IN THE SAME MANNER AS THE STARTER TUBE. THE CRIBBING UNDER THE BRACKET MUST BE KEPT TIGHT WHILE ADVANCING THE PIERS (TUBES). - IF MORE THAN ONE HYDRAULIC PUMP IS BEING USED, DO NOT PUSH TWO ADJACENT PIERS AT THE SAME TIME. THIS MAY RESULT IN A FALSE LIFT WHILE PUSHING THE PIERS TO THE LOAD BEARING STRATA. 10. RAISE THE FOUNDATION UNTIL IT TOUCHES THE SILL PLATE AND THEN CONTINUE TO ADVANCE THE DRIVE TUBES UNTIL THE SUITABLE BEARING STRATUM IS REACHED. 11. SUITABLE BEARING STRATUM IS DEFINED BY A FORCE EQUAL TO 40,000 LBS OR UNTIL AN APPROXIMATE LIFT OF 1/4 INCH OF THE STRUCTURE IS ACHIEVED. THE LOAD MUST BE HELD FOR 5 MINUTES WITHOUT 1/4 INCH OF VERTICAL MOVEMENT OR ANY HYDRAULIC PRESSURE DROP. IF THE PIER SETTLES 1/4 INCH OR THE PRESSURE DROPS, ADD ADDITIONAL PRESSURE TO THE PIER UNTIL THE 5 MINUTE HOLD TEST IS ACHIEVED. AT COMPLETION OF A THE SUCCESSFUL 5 MINUTE HOLD, RECORD THE GAGE PRESSURE ON THE PIER LOG AND THE PIER WILL BE CONSIDERED INSTALLED. 12. A MINIMUM OF 10% OF THE PIERS SHALL BE TESTED AS FOLLOWS. FOR EACH GROUP OF 10 PIERS, THE FIRST PIER INSTALLED SHALL BE CONSIDERED THE TEST PIER. THE PIER SHALL BE INSTALLED IN 18" INCREMENTS, RECORDING THE HYDRAULIC GAGE PRESSURES ON THE GRIP-TITE PUSH PIER PRESSURE LOG AT EACH INCREMENT. CONTINUE THE INSTALLATION UNTIL THE PIER MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS OF INSTRUCTION #11. 13. THE ALLOWABLE PIER CAPACITY IS CALCULATED AS 50% OF THE MEASURED FORCE AS LOGGED OR 16,500 LBS (MAXIMUM PER MANUFACTURER). 14. ONCE THE PIER IS INSTALLED, PREPARE THE TUBE SO A GRIP-TITE CAP CAN BE PLACED ON THE TUBE TO PREPARE FOR LIFTING. THERE MUST BE A MINIMUM OF 6-1/2 INCHES OF TUBE PRESENT ABOVE THE TOP OF THE BRACKET. 15. INSTALL THE GRIP-TITE REINFORCEMENT INSERT -TUBE INTO THE LAST PIER TUBE. CUT THE REINFORCEMENT INSERT -TUBE 3 INCHES SHORTER THAN THE DISTANCE FROM THE TOP OF THE PIER TO THE COUPLER TO ALLOW AN ADDITIONAL TUBE TO BE INSTALLED LATER. 16. REMOVE THE HYDRAULIC RAM AND REPEAT THE ABOVE STEPS FOR THE REMAINING PIERS, DOCUMENTING THE FINAL DEPTHS AND GAGE PRESSURES FOR EACH PIER. 17. INSTALL THE GRIP-TITE PIER CAP AND BOLTS TO THE TUBE AND BRACKET. PLACE THE CAP ON TOP IF THE TUBE. IF A GRIP-TITE LIFT CYLINDER IS BEING USED TO LIFT, THEN 1-1/2 TO 2 INCHES OF THE BOLT MUST BE EXPOSED ABOVE THE NUT ON TOP OF THE CAP SO THAT THE LIFT CYLINDER CAN BE ATTACHED. IF A GRIP-TITE HYDRAULIC RAM IS BEING USED TO LIFT, ABOUT 1/4 -INCH OF THE BOLT MUST BE EXPOSED ABOVE THE NUT ON TOP OF THE CAP. ONCE THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF BOLT ABOVE THE NUT IS EXPOSED, RUN THE BOTTOM OF THE NUT UP HAND -TIGHT AGAINST THE BOTTOM OF THE BRACKET. TIGHTEN THE BOLTS EVENLY SO THAT THE CAP STAYS LEVEL. 18. WITH THE CAP IN -PLACE AND THE BOLTS TIGHTENED, THE LIFT CYLINDER MAY BE INSTALLED. TO INSTALL THE LIFT CYLINDER, SET IT ON THE CAP WITH THE CENTER OF LIFT -CYLINDER IN CENTER OF THE RAISED WELDED CIRCLE ON THE CAP. SCREW THE COUPLER ON THE BOLT THAT IS ATTACHED TO THE LIFT CYLINDER TO THE BRACKET BOLT THAT IS STICKING UP THROUGH THE CAP. SCREW THE COUPLER ON THE LIFT CYLINDER BOLT UNTIL IT BOTTOMS OUT ON THE BRACKET BOLT. THE NUT ON THE TOP OF THE CAP MAY NEED TO BE ADJUSTED TO MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS ENOUGH THREAD FOR THE COUPLER TO BE COMPLETELY SCREWED ONTO THE BRACKET BOLT. THE COUPLER ON THE LIFT -CYLINDER -BOLT SHALL BE SCREWED ONTO THE LIFT CYLINDER BOLT SO THAT THE TOP NUT ON THE BRACKET BOLT IS RESTING ON THE CAP. ADJUST THE NUT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE BRACKET BOLT SO IT IS TIGHT AGAINST THE BOTTOM OF THE BRACKET. FINALLY, TIGHTEN THE NUT ON TOP OF THE LIFT CYLINDER. IF A HYDRAULIC RAM IS BEING USED TO LIFT, THE HYDRAULIC RAM ONLY NEEDS TO BE REATTACHED TO THE BRACKET. 19. ONCE A LIFT CYLINDER OR HYDRAULIC RAM HAS BEEN PLACED ON EACH PIER, CONNECT THE HYDRAULIC HOSES TO EACH OF THE LIFTING DEVICES IN SERIES. 20. OPEN THE CONTROL VALVE ON THE LIFTING DEVICE CLOSEST TO THE PUMP. WITH THE PUMP CONTROL VALVE IN THE DRIVE POSITION, USE THE PENDANT CONTROL TO PRESSURIZE THE DEVICE TO 1,000 PSI. CLOSE THE VALVE ON THE FIRST LIFTING DEVICE AND OPEN THE CONTROL VALVE ON THE SECOND LIFTING DEVICE. USE THE PENDANT CONTROL TO PRESSURIZE THE SECOND LIFTING DEVICE TO 1,000 PSI. CONTINUE THIS PROCEDURE UNTIL ALL OF THE LIFTING DEVICES HAVE BEEN PRESSURIZED TO 1,000 PSI MAKING SURE TO CLOSE ONE CONTROL VALVE BEFORE OPENING THE NEXT ONE. 21. ONCE THE HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TO EACH LIFTING DEVICE IS SET AT 1,000 PSI, THE STRUCTURE MAY BE LIFTED. OPEN ALL THE VALVES AT EACH LIFTING DEVICE AND APPLY PRESSURE. AFTER THE STRUCTURE HAS BEEN LIFTED TO THE DESIRED LEVEL, CLOSE THE CONTROL VALVES ON ALL OF THE LIFTING DEVICES. NEXT, TIGHTEN ALL OF THE NUTS ON THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE BRACKET, WHICH WILL HOLD THE FOUNDATION IN PLACE. DISCONNECT THE LIFTING DEVICES AND REMOVE THE EQUIPMENT FROM THE EXCAVATIONS. 22. BACKFILL THE EXCAVATIONS WITH THE EXCAVATED MATERIAL IF THE MATERIALS ARE SUITABLE. IN LANDSCAPED AREAS, PLACE THE SOIL IN LOOSE LIFTS NO GREATER THAN 12 INCHES IN THICKNESS. COMPACT EACH LIFT TO A FIRM AND UNYIELDING CONDITION BEFORE PLACING SUBSEQUENT LIFTS. COMPACTION SHOULD BE PERFORMED BY A MANUALLY OPERATED, UPRIGHT COMPACTOR GENERALLY REFERRED TO AS A JUMPING JACK.
