Nova Family Resource and Childcare Center, LLC will provide childcare for foster children in the North
Puget Sound area. Foster children are often from low-income families and Nova exists to support these
children and provide resources to their families.
Children in foster care may require exeptional resources due to behavioral and mental health challenges,
which can result in them being removed from their current daycare, causing more disruption in their
lives. Nova's trauma -informed, therapeutic childcare program will provide support to these children by
integrating occupational therapy (OT) and mental health practices into daily care, with teachers who are
trained to work with children in this environment. Nova will also offer outpatient services to children
and their families.
90% of the children and families served by Nova will come from low-income environments. Should the
purpose of Nova change where less than 20% of those we serve no longer come from low-income
environments, it will be the responsibility of Nova to inform the City of Edmonds of this cha nge.
