Project Overview:
There is an existing 216sf timber framed deck on the back side of the residence at 20324 87' Ave. W in
Edmonds WA. The existing deck comes off of the main living level of the residence, above a daylight
basement. Observation of the existing deck revealed visible signs of deterioration. This project consists of
complete removal and replacement of the deteriorating deck. The new deck is to have the same footprint
as the existing. The new deck structure will be constructed using a steel framed system, with timber joist
and composite decking. The existing deck is connected by a ledger to the residence. The new deck will
utilize 4ea posts and will be freestanding.
Design Assumptions:
• Live Load 60psf
• Dead Load 15psf
• Soil Bearing Pressure Assumed to be 1,500psf
