Please see Edmonds City Code, Ch 7.91.080, Section D for details
regarding Grease Interceptors.
Please provide the following when available:
• A site plan showing the location of the interceptor. The outside interceptor should be located
as close as possible to the kitchen fixtures thereby reducing grease build-up on the discharge line
from the kitchen to the interceptor.
• A detailed cut sheet showing the interceptor in plan and profile. Also provide plumbing and
or mechanical drawings showing the fixtures connecting to the interceptor. Although
disposal/grinder devices are allowed to connect to the interceptor it is preferred that food waste
be deposited in the solid waste receptacles which precludes the use of a grinder/disposal.
The interceptor should have:
• Six-inch (6") PVC lines,
• Venting to allow free air exchange between chambers of the interceptor,
• Inlet, transition, and discharge tees to be 6" PVC. Stainless steel strap and 5/8" anchor bolts
are a minimum standard connection method to secure the tees to the interceptor.
• Gasketed, water tight manhole lids/castings should be placed above each tee and are to be
graded in such a manner as to prevent runoff/water from entering the interceptor.
A water test of the interceptor must be performed prior to backfill. The tank is to be filled with
fresh water, one compartment at a time, in order to verify that the tank is water tight and does not
leak through the baffle wall(s) or the tank walls. Please have the interceptor installer notify me prior
to installation so that an inspector can be present if needed.
Please email or call me with if you have questions regarding this review.
