Our firm has prepared many reports for this project in the last few years. Now the project is in
construction. It has come to our attention that "pipe anchors" are needed for any stormwater pipes
that slope 20 percent or greater. The plans indicate that one, or possibly a few more, "runs" of
pipe have a slope of 20 percent or greater. Based on the project plans, the pipes will be buried
about 3 to 4 feet below the ground.
We have attached a detail per for soil cement blocks to be used as typical pipe anchors where a
pipe slopes 20 percent or greater. One pipe anchor should be placed in the middle of pipe run that
has a slope is 20 percent or greater. We believe these pipe anchors are very suitable for the
project in our professional opinion because the soil of the project site is very competent and stable
at the 3- to- 4-foot level (bottom of pipe).
