2024-05-08 Youth Commission MinutesMeeting Minutes Edmonds Youth Commission Frances Anderson Center Room123 Wednesday, May 8th, 2024 6:OOPM-7:30PM 6:00 P.M. — Call to Order and Land Acknowledgement: "We acknowledge the original inhabitants of this place, the Sdohobsh (Snohomish) people and their successors the Tulalip Tribes, who since time immemorial have hunted, fished, gathered, and taken care of these lands. We respect their sovereignty, their right to self-determination, and we honor their sacred spiritual connection with the land and water." - City Council Land Acknowledgment 1. Roll Call & Absences (1 minute) Mara called meeting to order at 6. Charlie read the land acknowledgement. Lucy C., Vivian, Sophie, and Joanna were missing. 2. Approval of Agenda & Meeting Minutes (2 minutes) Mara moved to approve agenda and minutes. Seconded by Lydia. Minutes approved unanimously. 3. Public Comment (3 minutes per speaker) No members of the public were present. Short presentation by Angie Feser, director of Parks and Recreation Services. Due to City budget cuts, Edmonds Youth Commission may not continue into future years. Casey's position has been cut as of June 30th Commissioners will likely find out if the commission will continue in January. 4. Final Planning for the May Ivy Pull (10 minutes) Ivy Pull is May 18t'. Commissioners should arrive at 9:30 to Pine Ridge Park. Commissioners need to reach out to 5 people about the event. 5. Making Instagram Reel about Ivy Pull (30 minutes) Reel should include May 18th, 10-12am at Pine Ridge Park. After short writing contest, Lydia was chosen to write on whiteboard for reel. Charlie filmed the reel on his phone. 6. End of the Year Presentation (40 minutes) Commission edited Powerpoint. Casey will edit the Powerpoint and then sent it to Joelle for further revision. At the next meeting, speakers will run through the presentation. 7. Final Comments (4 minutes) Ivy pull is Saturday, May 181h Adjourn — 7:3OPM Meeting adjourned at 7:28.
