The removal of 4 trees has been approved per ECDC 23.10.040: the proposed trees
are a) not within a critical area and b) not within a subdividable property. While the
site does contain critical slopes, the location of the proposed tree removal does not
meet the definition of critical slope per ECDC 23.10.040(A). Slopes at the site of tree
removal are approximately 20-22%.

Arborist's Report
May 6th, 2024
On May 6th, 2024, a group of trees located at 9418 235th Place SW were evaluated by myself to
determine their health and potential for removal. Notwithstanding the recommendations and
conclusions made in this report, it must be realized that trees are living organisms and their
health and vigor constantly change over time. They are not immune to changes in site conditions
or seasonal variations in the weather.
Scope of Work
This report provides a general assessment of 4 trees located in the back yard of 9418 235th Place
SW. The primary purpose of the assessment was to assist in obtaining a permit for removal.
Summary
Upon arrival at the property, I began a level 2 assessment of 4 trees. The trees had diameters
(DBH) ranging from 32 to 13 inches, and approximate heights ranging from 125 to 40 feet.
Tree 1 Douglas fir, Pseudotsugo menziesii, is approximately 125 feet high, and has a DBH of 32".
General health appears good.
Tree 2 Douglas fir, Pseudotsugo menziesii, is approximately 110 feet high, and has a DBH of
28.5". General health appears good.
Tree 3 Douglas fir, Pseudotsugo menziesii, is approximately 85 feet high, and has a DBH of 19".
General health appears good.

Lot size= 0.24 acres
Methodology
These trees were evaluated with guidelines established by the International Society of
Arboriculture. The health assessments were performed without excavation or internal
examination such as coring or drilling. No aerial inspection of the upper canopy was performed.
Recommendations
The homeowner would like to mitigate the 4 trees to wildlife poles. The homeowner states the
debris these trees leave is a nuisance and a safety issue. She has a disability.
The homeowner has a landscape plan that she has started (photo 2, 3, and 4). She would like to
complete the rest of her yard this way.
The homeowner needs to add supplemental drainage to this area. The proposed plan is to
continue the system that is installed in the other half of her yard. She states stormwater runoff
from her back yard floods the current system.
Mrs. Nash is pretty cool, and does not hate trees.
Comments
At maturity, firs can have a trunk diameter over 40 inches. They can be well over 150 feet tall.
Firs are not known for having large stable root structures. Due to the proximity to the home, this
makes Mrs. Nash nervous (photo 5).
I have personally pruned these trees before, and they did not strike me as excellent specimens.
Tree number 4 was not pruned at that time, and the new fence was not there. The homeowner
has invested in these trees, and now she chooses to remove them. The estimated pruning
program for the next 9 years will cost the same as mitigating to habitat poles now. This is my
own estimate, but I believe it to be a good representation of industry pricing.
