Subject: Tree Removal (PLN2024-0045)
Dear Mr. Sund,
The City received your complete application for the removal of trees at 771 Edmonds
Way on June 24, 2024. Staff analysis of the submitted application follows below.
The submitted tree retention and protection plan submitted in application to remove trees
pursuant to ECDC 23.10.060(A)(5) satisfies the requirements of Subsection B. The proposed
retention exceeds the 30% required by ECDC 23.10.060(C)(1). Furthermore, the applicant
proposed retention of more than 50% of viable trees onsite, waiving fees -in -lieu required for the
removal of trees >24" DBH (ECDC 23.10.060(G)). Removal of viable significant trees requires
replacements as described in ECDC 23.10.080(A); Paragraph (B)(1) exempts the replacement of
hazardous or nonviable trees. The proposed replacement plantings meet these requirements.
Pursuant to ECDC 23.10.085, the recorded notice on title documents the existence of protected
trees against the property.
Therefore, the subject application for tree removal is approved under the following
conditions:
1. The replacements, as required and specified by ECDC 23.10.080(A), shall be planted
within one year. Replacement plantings are subject to inspection.
2. Only the removal of the trees indicated in the submitted inventory is approved.
Removal of additional trees requires a separate permit.
3. Tree protection measures compliant with ECDC 23.10.070 shall be implemented.
