Upon arrival to the site contractors were not present. We observed the drilled piers and foundation form work for the planned residence had been completed. Cuts along the perimeter of the residence excavation generally ranged from approximately 3- to 5.5-feet along the western portion of the residence footprint and 8- to 11-feet along the eastern portions. At the base of the excavations native granular soils were exposed consistent with our previous explorations and observations during excavation monitoring. Steel sheets anchored with driven pipe piles were utilized along the taller eastern cuts to temporarily shore the excavations. Additionally, taller cuts were benched along the eastern edge. We evaluated the subgrade soils within the form work with a %-inch dimeter steel probe rod under moderate pressure. Probing generally yielded 1- to 3-inches which we interpreted as medium dense or better conditions. In our opinion the subgrade has been prepared in accordance with the approved plans and our recommendations and should support the designed loads. Temporary erosion control measures consisted of silt fencing around the perimeter of the site. In our opinion TESC BMP's appear to be performing adequately. We have been providing geotechnical consultation and construction monitoring services on a part-time basis. Our findings and conclusions are based on specific observations made while on site.
